possibly...possibly, and nobody has mentioned fire, they might be very sensitive to it or not, but if they burned all their fabric off would they die?

Do you mean heart symbolically or like there's an actual part? Since I'm guessing the soul chamber links to the soul part and not the heart. I just used the word heart because I couldn't think of a better term to use.

They probably have some sort of motor, or heart. Of course, the soul is what powers them the most. o.o Also, I think if they fell from a really high place, they would probably fall apart. ; Morbid, but yeah. And if their fabrics got burned off, it would probably damage some of the mechanical parts, too... melt them, perhaps.

If they lost all of their "fabric skin" I think they could just sew themselves new skin. Minding that their internal components are all okay.

You know, if we humans somehow modified ourselves to become stitchpunks, whether constructing human-sized stitchpunkian forms (along with soul transfer) or soul-splitting into various stitchpunks, we could potentially live for several hundred years, maybe even a few thousand - hello, greatly extended lifespans!

In Rag N Bone there are some simple rules and concepts we follow, they go as follows:
-Stitchpunks are technically immortal so long as they are kept in good repair.
-Loss of the fabric skin is painful but it can be replaced (in Rag N Bone the term "reskin" is used in the rare instances where this must take place)
-Stitchpunks breathe, however it is a auto reflex. It is not needed, it's a memory that the soul had from being human.
-If a stitchpunk does not undergo repair they will not die but they will be unable to function (except in the case of certain sets like my Franzpunks who have clocks in their chests, when the clock stops they must be resurrected using the 21 grams theory and three by three law)
-Humans are the only ones capable of making stitchpunks and resurrecting them. A stitchpunk cannot operate a Talisman in the sense of making new stitchpunks, a stitchpunk can also not bring back humans using a Talisman.
-Talismans are usually creator specific when it comes to creation. There is only one set whose Talisman has not been creator specific.
-The events after death are hazy memories to those that are resurrected. How they retain their memories of the time before death has to do with the set and their creator. Two stitchpunks made by different creators and killed in the same attack may respond differently in memory retention upon resurrection. One may awaken right where they left off in the attack, mid-scream even, while one from another set may awaken with no memories of the attack at all and only remember that they had died later.
-When all members of a set have died resurrection is not possible. One stitchpunk from the same creator must be alive for the others to be resurrected.
-If a member of a set is dead this soul does remain nearby though it is not always visible.

wow...that brings a lot into perspective.
Now another question for you then, can they change bodies? As in, if there is an "empty" body, could a stitchpunk...transfer, to that body?

Well in Rag N Bone if they are dead they can be resurrected into a new body but it costs a portion of the soul. We do have one particular character however that is able to complete the transfers while the stitchpunk is alive without cost to the soul, however he's a jackass and will set a price of how much of their soul he can take during the transfer. He would not generally do it for free.

So you really use soul as an energy/essence, and sometimes a currency/thing of value? As in soul is something that people want and will take?

Pretty much, only if they know the process of course. There are very few that do. The normal cast just consider it a soul, it's what keeps them running. Certain villains in the story however do know it's worth.

Hm...I think the only one of my Stitches that would know what to do is Desmond (he's my only alchemist)
But that reminds me of Demons Souls (game) a bit...in a good way. And I can't help but feel my human->Stitchpunk "second life" ties in with the whole ressurection thing...it feels right

Yeah, I think it does. Cause we have the rare instance of whole souls being transferred. *nods*

If you ever want to use that you can, I would actually be honored if you did ^_^

We may actually be able to use it. Rattles had considered a situation like that previously (though as per usual she will not tell me what character it relates to) and likes your take on it. If we do use it you'll be getting credit for the idea. ^.^
