Wow, I didn't know that, actually. Is that really what BRAIN's name stands for? Oh yeah, that was me as well. I got that from the Scientist's journal on the 9 Experiment website.

This is something I've been wondering about. There's a trope known as Freeze Frame Bonus, which is basically about how things can only be noticed by slowing down the footage or pausing at the right moment (example: in an episode of Atop the Fourth Wall, Linkara had a lot of flashing text go across the screen for a moment and one bit of text says "If you're reading this, you paused the video") Would the engraving of "hope" inside the projector box count as that, since it's on screen for only a short moment as is practically unnoticeable without knowledge of a deleted scene? Or does it not count because it doesn't require pausing to be seen?
I remember getting into a slight edit war with someone there because I thought the explanation of 6's backstory in the Russian dub counted as Fridge Logic and someone was trying to convince me it wasn't. For those who didn't see the Russian dub, it changed a lot of things within the plot (and I do mean a lot) and one of these was really pushing the characters trying to remember who they were in a past life, as their entire souls of different people and not just pieces of the scientist now. Not a bad idea if they hadn't let that idea take over the entire plot, but I really hated the monologue 9 gives at the end of the movie to explain (as the ghosts appear) who they had once been. It says 6 was the first soul taken by the Fabrication Machine, and that he'd been an assistant. This sort of explains his obsession with drawing the Talisman as a way of trying to remember his past.
Makes sense, right?
Now go and read that sentence again. I'm betting something doesn't seem right about it.
If 6 was the first soul taken, then that means there isn't a soul to transfer into the doll form. And if the soul was taken back from the Machine, then it would most likely have the same reaction as when 9 freed the souls, therefore destroying Fab Mac, therefore making it so that we don't have a movie because the scientist already took care of it.
The original movie had plot holes as well, but how did anyone miss this?
(I'd almost rally for the Russian dub being counted as Discontinuity, but I don't think many people know of it, or even hate that much. I hated the dub, but it doesn't have as notoriety as the Deathly Hallows epilogue or theatrical cut of Bladerunner)

That....IS rather strange, mokyn...*hand to head* Wow, how'd they miss that?
Yeah, I don't think you should do that...It could (emphasis on "could") be considered Fan Discontinuity, since most of the people I've spoken to who saw both versions don't like it, but still...I would say that Freeze Frame Bonus counts though...Can someone screengrab that? I can never see anything like it.
Geh, and I hate edit wars. Especially when they're over things are most DEFINITELY there. For instance, some time after the page was created, someone removed the Ho Yay trope. Why? I ask.

Personally, I think it could count as Freeze Frame Bonus. I mean, I do think it was an Easter Egg. They changed the ending, but probably still thought it would be cool to have "hope" in the box, with 9 being the main character and all.
Mokyn, you are not alone. I didn't like the Russian dub either, for that and many other reasons XD Honestly, I would only count the American version on the TV Troupes site, anyway, since it was Shane's "baby". But I ramble.
I personally laugh at "Affably Evil: The Chancellor", because it's so true. BFS for 8 is also pretty funny. XD
Poor 9, he got "Dont Touch It You Idiot". But hey, it IS true. Whoops!

I wonder if they should put a 'Snicket Warning' Trope, since TV spots, I believe, says the movie 'isn't your little brother's movie.' Just a thought.

Ah, I love TV Tropes. Also, 9 has it's own character page there:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/Ptitle1d5irnza
My personal favorite is the No Sense of Personal Space listed under 5. XD
