. . . Michael, Gabriel, Camael, Raphael, Sachiel and Anael. They're listed in the chart in the bottom. Aren't those the names of archangels?

You know, I think I've noticed that before but never said anything about it. o__o I recognized them because the Angels from Evangelion were named after the archangels as well... That's very very interesting, since it sort of implies that alchemy in this world could possibly have a... biblical connotation.

Michael, Gabriel and Raphael are; the others are just regular angels, I think. The symbols two rows below the names are genuine alchemical symbols for substances and processes, though - from left to right they mean Gold, Digestion, Silver, Dissolution, Calcination, Iron, Separation, Fixation, Mercury, Distillation, Incineration, Tin, Projection (not sure what that means in an alchemical context), Congelation (or possibly Bismuth), Copper (it's probably a Venus symbol rather than an ankh) and Sublimation. I don't recognise the other symbols, though one of them looks kind of like the one for arsenic. Honestly, I'm not convinced most of these are genuine alchemical symbols. Not sure why it says 'Saturnus Corpus' there, either...
More intriguing to my mind is the column on the left. The word 'Vinum' (wine) seems to show up a lot, but I can't see the words after as clearly. I can make out... 'Vinum album' (white wine), 'Vinum emeticum' (emetic wine), 'Vinum Hippocraticum' (Hippocratic wine) and 'Vinum rubrum' (red wine). Quite what three kinds of wine and a powerful emetic have to do with the transmutation of life I am not entirely sure. XD Maybe you have to be really drunk on an empty stomach before it'll work?

Although I think the animators did very well with the scaling in this movie, isn't that clip behind 5 a little...small?

I dunno, I swear I've seen clips that small or even smaller before... but maybe they didn't look exactly like that. XD

Yeah, it was the shape of it that confused me in the first place. XD I also heard something new while watching the scene just before the winged beast appears(I always notice a bunch of new stuff when I'm making a video). It's a very quick interaction, but right before 9 gets flung by 8, 5 is struggling in his grasp, and I could swear I hear him say "No, 8!" It's possible he could be saying "No, wait" but the placing of the annunciation fits better with the former. The more I listen to it, the more it sounds like it. If so, this is the only time 8 is directly referred to by name. It kind of...makes sense to me too, when you couple it with the way 5 said "hey" when 8 first shoved 9 into the bucket elevator. It's like, yes, 5 is frightened by him, but not enough that he gives him the non-confrontational respect that he does with 1. There's also a good chance that this is all in my head because it's 1:30 AM and I'm tired.

Well, there's also the time that 1 says "8? Where... Where's 8?" after The Seamstress take he and 7 away, but still. I don't think that really detracts from the importance of 5 calling him by name here. :3
It is something I've noticed before, but it still makes me happy to hear because for me it's a really great character moment. They could've just as easily filled it with grunts and groans, but they actually recorded a line for it, however small it may be~

I've seen clips around that size. XD They're basically like little paper clips. But I've only ever seen them in an art store, once. So... maybe someone nearby was an artist. Or 2 made it.

I don't think anyone's posted about this on here. Look. Behind 9. It's an army helmet on a musket. I think a soldier died in that very spot.

I never noticed that loudspeaker before - good find! Anyway, I was messing about with frame-by-frame earlier today and spotted a few things. Firstly, although 1's clock clearly isn't working, being stuck at 9.09, the mechanism is apparently still there, just behind the Winged Beast. It looks very like they've incorporated it into the pulley system for the lift! There are a couple of cogs directly above the lift shaft, with the rope leading up to them. Noticed what I thought was a really nice bit of character animation, just after 9 runs off to the Scientist's workshop. When 1 tells 7 to let 9 go, her shoulders slump just a tiny bit; she looks off to the side, and her lip starts to curl a little bit. Her eyebrows aren't always easy to see under her helmet, but she's frowning too. Then, just a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment before the scene cuts to the workshop, she glances back after 9 and her mouth relaxes a little. There are so many conflicting emotions in those few seconds of animation, I just love it. I see it as a mix of resentment ("Great, just run out on us just when we need your help"), disgust with herself ("And to think I actually thought... Now you've got me agreeing with 1!") and just a hint of self-doubt ("...What if you are right? Should I have gone with you after all?"). Anyway, there's a lot packed in there. Also, 9 gets a hilarious expression on his face a split second before he catches 7 when she falls from the Seamstress. And here's a couple of shots where he looks more suitably heroic. That last screenshot of 9 and 7... I've got a clearer version somewhere... *digs* Aha! Here! It makes my inner 9x7 shipper squee with insanity.

I believe there are a few more of them, as well... You can see them in the early scene when 9 and 5 are exploring the trenches. How interesting... 0.0

This is something I've a few times when AMV making. This right after 1's soul gets sucked out. I always found this shot to be a little creepy. Even though he's dead by this point, it almost looks like he's screaming.

^Yeah, I've noticed that too, unfortunately. It's the gift and the curse of the editor. XD
And I am saving that HD screenshot to my computer. O.O Thank you, Cattail. ;D
