List anything you might've spotted in the clips and/or (when it comes out) the DVD. Reason; My opinion is that in regards to the characters, the filmmakers relied to much on subtle movement to define the characters and seeing how easy it is too get distracted by all the visuals, If we could compile a list of all these little things we may find that the characters are not as one-dimensional as some believe. It could also be a great source of fun immaturity . All due respect, Autumnsoul *Does sailors salute, but stops saluting when trousers fall down * P.S. if this is in the wrong place feel free to move it.

After watching a commercial with a small bit of the scene after 2 throws a rock at the cat beast, I noticed something small.
2 is shaking FAR more than I thought originally. At first I thought it was due to him being hurt, but now that I think about it he must have been absolutely terrified! It makes me think that 2 might be one of the bravest of the stitchpunks, after 7 and 9. It is also possible that 6 told him, and only him, that 9 was going to come. Because he says "I always hoped" after he meets 9 and the way he says it and examines him that he hoped 6 was right and he is relieved that he was. It may be why it was so open to 9 in the first place, he seemed very open to 9 from the get go, even after he nailed him in the face.
And something about 8, after watching the Winged Beast scene again and remembering his last moments, I think 8 is much more insecure than we may first think. He is obviously scared, if only a little bit, during the fight with that creature and he tried to put on a brave face before he went. This, along with him finally smiling at the end, makes me think he was only a big bully because he was convinced he NEEDED to be one.

I noticed a bunch of little character "moments" when I rewatched the movie. They're there, it just goes by really fast, or they're standing in the background. If you sneeze, you miss them. XD For example...
I noticed after 9 saves 7, she starts leading him out of the tunnel while the oil barrel is rolling towards them, and the monsters/fire are closing in from behind... When she grabs 9 and runs across the side of the wall, 9 makes a really fast "OH CRAP WE'RE GONNA DIE" face that I found really, REALLY hysterical.
Also, when 5 and 9 return to the workshop to find the drawings 2 kept, 9 kind of glances around the room like "Wow, what a dump." XD

You mean something besides that look 5 and 7 give each other when he fixes her leg? (And I think I saw his hand lingering on it for a few moments after it was fixed, come to think of it.)
When 9 goes up to the Fabrication Machine near the end of the movie, quite ready to die if need be, the way he poses and holds himself looks a lot like he's taking, and holding, a deep breath. Like "Okay....*deep breath* let's get this over with."
...Ah, nuts, there was something else I had caught before, but I lost it! It'll come to me eventually, or someone else'll say it, I'm sure. =_=

I did notice they fixed an animation error in the Winged Beast fight. In the original clip we got, there's an error where you see 8 running when 1 and 9 are about to fall and then it does a close up of 8 and he's not running. In the actual movie, I think they retooled it a little, I don't remember exactly how, but it was different (and not an error). Uhg, never mind, saw it a second time and noticed they didn't fix it at all...lol. I'll probably catch more things when I go to see it a second time on Sunday

I just got back from seeing it for the second time, and I noticed a LOT more of the little subtle nuances that Shane gave the characters that REALLY made me like the movie a heckuva lot more.
1. When they leave the burning cathedral and 8 puts his hand on 1's shoulder, you can see the deep relationship the two have for a very brief second. 8 is basically telling 1 "you know, you did your best, and I'm proud of you" with the little look he gave. It made me love 8.
2. I totally agree that 8 was insecure. He was frightened a LOT, now that I think about it. Here he was, the biggest of the bunch, and he was frightened. But because everyone expected him to be the bully, he had to be frightened AND alone, because who was going to comfort him?
3. OH MY ACKER THE 5 STITCHES 7 SCENE *fans self* I payed a LOT more attention to that this time around. 5 DOES indeed let his hand linger on her leg for a brief instant, and 7 is TOTALLY OKAY WITH THAT. THey're smiling at each other the whole way through that! 5x7 CANON!!!
4. The twins cried over 2. Yeah, they so did. After the Seamstress takes 7 and 8, and the twins see 2's dead body, they hold each other and make sobbing motions. They're visably upset, and get comforted by 5 and 6. A VERY sad little scene.
5. Once again, 1's concern for 8 is very apparant. I didn't notice just how shaken he was when he said "Where's 8?!" after the seamstress attack. He starts PANICKING!
6. I'm now officially in love with the poor scientist. God the animation in that flashback is gorgeous, and the emotion you get from him just before he sucks his soul out is...GAH. He's completely remorseful and WANTS to die. Poor guy *sniffle*
7. Ok, 2's funeral is officially the saddest fricking thing EVER. You see 1 all the way in the back, guilty as ALL hell for what he's done but unwilling to admit it even to himself. 6 is huddled with the twins, with a faraway look in his eyes as if he's seen all of this before, and was helpless to stop it. And then 5......poor 5, laying the coin on 2's eyes and saying his final goodbyes to what was basically his dad ;________; it's so SAAAAAAD.
8. There's a lot more gore than we're giving it credit for. When we first meet the twins and they flash back to the war, you can see the devastation that the gas had. Gave me chills. WHAT a terrible way to go.
9. I still hate 9, because he was a massive dumbass, but the whole interaction between him and 5 was SO sweet that I almost have to forgive him. And I never noticed the "hey baby" look he had when he rode the record machine up to 7 before falling on his face. That was funny.

Jonah, I noticed ALOT of the things you pointed out. I also noticed... 1. The dead mother and baby in the car. For some odd reason, the first time watching it, I didn't notice it at all. I think I might have been too busy looking at the background and didn't notice. But the second time watching, I looked for it and it was like WOAH DEAD MOM AND BABY WTF. D8 I jumped. 2. The way 5 couldn't look directly up at 1 when he is scolding him. Aaaawww. The poor baby *hugs 5* 3. 8 was MOANING. OMFG. WTF. XDDDDD During that whole magnet scene, the first time around I was laughing my ass off so hard, I didn't hear him moaning, but this time I did. XD LUL 4. When 5 looks at the pretty girl on the record cover, 5 makes like a small sound, like "hmm" or "ooh!" and has this BIGGEST grin on his face. XD (I didn't really notice the first time b/c I was looking at the girl too o.o;;; ROFL XD) ... I know I noticed alot more, but they have completely slipped my mind now. Just alot of subtle movements and sounds the characters made was alot of the new stuff I noticed. It was AMAZING to watch all over again.

I may be wrong, but I noticed a while into the movie that the scaling of the Fab machine and the dolls were a little iffy.
When they were showing the scientist's flashback (or was it the twins projections...?) they showed the scientist standing beside the Fab machine; it looked about three or four feet high, and the stitchpunks are about....eh....six inches?
During the movie it showed multiple times where the Fab machine seemed to be HUGE compared to others...=/
Idk, its just something I was thinking about on the drive home. I'll get a better look at it tomorrow when I go again!xD

OK, this isn't something I noticed a second time around, but something I just remembered: The Fabrication Machine has sparks around itself when it gets pissed off or irritated! They gave us something to view as emotions! I is happy.
After watching my downloaded clip of The Source (thanks Castoro!) I noticed that 5 was startled very much when 9 stood up to 1 and asked why 2 was out there. He also seemed shocked that 1 sent him, as if he had never asked 2 to do that before or he didn't know 1 had ever asked him before.
In the same scene I noticed 6 is incredibly jumpy. He flinches at almost every action by 1 and 8.
8 also straightens up slightly and suddenly when 1 calls him "illiterate cretin" so I'm guessing he isn't as brain dead as some people thought. Maybe he understood that and was surprised 1 insulted him.
Also, when the twins are introduced and 3 takes the lightbulb after 9's offer, he (yeah, I think they're boys) keeps it away from 4. Maybe he's the greedier one?

Well of all the others 9 is the least experienced of the bunch, so wouldn't it be fair to say that he is quite naive at first. (and remember with naivity comes the tendancy to screw-up bigtime)

So would you guys agree with me in the fact that the characters are not as grossly underdeveloped as some believe on first viewing?
maybe 9 is the movie that becomes a richer experience the more times you watch it?

I would agree with that. It's true with a lot of things that multiple viewings result in more things being noticed, but 9 especially because everything goes by so fast, so it's harder to notice details than in something with a slower pace.

Edward Scissorhands reference: When 1,9, 5 and 8 are going up in an ‘elevator’, the music reminds me of ES score – very Elfmanesque, and 6, standing in a darkness and moving his finger reminds of Edward himself.

I enjoyed the movie more on my second viewing of it. o.o It seemed to go slower for me, as well. I think I was too excited, and had too much on my mind, when I went to see it the first time. XD
I actually noticed something else, that I forgot to post... When 8 is about to be soul-sucked, he actually growls at the fab machine, as if to say "screw you". I never noticed that the first time I watched the movie, and it actually made me feel a little sadder about his death.
