As I've said before; I'll believe it when it's announced officially. XD Until then... FANFICTION! *whoosh!*

running around the Emptiness with just four punks (only two of which that can physically talk), while trying to figure out what to do If I happened to have an extra 40 million dollars or so lying around, I would personally bankroll that film. XD All kidding aside, I really like Inkweaver's idea of a prequel comic. Because one of the main themes of the movie was that, before 9 came along, they weren't a complete set. They didn't really do anything; they were just in a holding pattern until he showed up and pulled his big bonehead maneuver galvanized them all into action. So, any stories to tell from that time period would be more character-based, which would be well-suited to a comic, or maybe even a novelization. But in all honesty, I'd be happy if they just left it alone. I love things the way they are. A little mystery makes things fun. It gives us stuff to talk about, and lets us create our own works to fill in the gaps. That's showmanship, right? Always leave 'em wanting more. XD

So long as they don't cut Acker himself out of the proceedings, I'd be cautiously optimistic about a sequel...

I can't imagine they would do that, considering Shane himself is highly keen on the idea of doing a sequel. So if they did decide to do one, I don't see why Shane wouldn't be involved. But this, combined with that, bodes very well~! * u * Plus I think the fact that Jim felt it necessary to mention the possibility when 9 wasn't even the subject of the conversation is very promising.

Finally someone talked about the 9 sequel idea! Even though it just a small possibility this is still good news to me. However I won't keep my hopes too high until it's really official.

*SQUEAK*
Okay, that is promising. Most of the time they can the idea of continuing a franchise pretty early, but to still be talking about a sequel 1-1/2 to 2 years after its initial release? Mehopes.
I can't help but feel like a prequel would be better suited though. Shane has mentioned that there are untold stories in the ragdolls' pasts and I would love to know what they are. And how would a sequel really work when more than half the main cast is dead, and half the surviving cast can't talk?

I was talking with my parents and my friends about the article I found and the possibility of a sequel, and this was a point I brought up. Plainly, I don't care how the sequel will work, because I've seen movies revolve almost entirely around 2 people...I just want more 9!!!! I did see somewhere else where I believe it was Shane Acker talking about the sequel possibly being about how they react to the re-awakening world around them and whether the accept the humanity within themselves, or realize that they are, in essence, machines.

While the fact that the article was in May is quite promising, I'm more hoping for a prequel than a sequel. There's only so much they can do with a sequel that they didn't do already with the original film (fighting machines, etc.), unless the Source Talisman has a new kind of purpose or something...

How about both a sequel AND a prequel in the same movie? The sequel being the story of 9 continued with just 3, 4, 7, and 9 trying to make their way in the world. And the prequel is 7 telling 9 about their past through flashbacks with help from the Twins and their video recordings. How's THAT for an idea? :3

That would be some kind of awesome O-O
Shane Acker did update his Facebook page a month ago with 'New project on the way'. Fingers crossed they're related.

Omg!! That is an awesome idea V!
I know that Acker is working on that Thomas the Train movie, but I so hope that what he posted on FB is separate from that!
Maybe they're finally taking the first steps out of the "talk" stage for a sequel! After all there was about 5 months between the article and what you found on FB Jen, a lot could happen in five months!! So I'm being cautiously optimistic, and I'm definitely keeping an eye on any recent news concerning 9.

This is incredibly awesome news. ^___^ Not only is it amazing that after two years there's still talk of a sequel to 9, but it's also terrific that there are still so many people around to care about it and theorize on it and spread the word and all. I'm really having a heyday going through all the information and speculations and whatnot, not to mention thinking up my own. I personally like the idea of a prequel-within-a-sequel like V suggested...I also enjoyed a brief daydream about all of us sending in different fanfiction ideas we've come up with over time and Shane Acker somehow managing to combine parts of them all together, like the genius he is. ^^ But in the end I agree with Phantom -- more 9 at all would be terrific...at this point I'd even settle for a short or something, just more 9 please!Just think, if a companion of any kind did come out we could hold little 9 parties everywhere and go to see it all at the same time whenever possible...there'd likely be more merchandise...members would quite possibly surge...everything we newer members missed out on the first time around would be back. It'd be fantastic.
