If 7 and 9 have no "You-know-whats" or "You-know-whats" to carry on life, than GOOD. I'll take any excuse for 9 and 7 not to have babies. The very thought of 7 giving birth makes me shudder. Besides, 9 belongs to 5. *shot in the other eye by 7x9 fangirls*
I actually agree with Anna. If they can fix themselves, I think they'd be able to built another stitchpunk if they the right peices of junk. Mabye the inside that lets the stitchpunk move can be a gundam toy. *shot* I also like your idea, Pazam.

They would be able to repair each other, I think o.o And with the scientist's notes, and supplies all in that one room (including the transfer device)... It's plausible they could create more stitchpunks. XD If they even wanted to, that is.

It should be a whole new generation of stitchpunk characters! Maybe 9, 7, 3, and 4 take on where the scientist left off and create more stitchpunks!

All I know is that Shane Acker said in an interview that his ideas involve the return of life to the planet and how they might deal with that. But that could mean anything really. Since he was in that interview a year ago before "9" was attacked by critics, he might have abandoned ideas. I'd think he'd be pretty discouraged after how the movie was received by critics, rabid fans aside.
While I personally love drawing and seeing stitchpup characters, I doubt that Shane Acker would take that whole approach to stitchpunk reproduction if he wanted to make another film with new characters. The difference between OCs and canon characters is that while our ideas might only exist for our own satisfaction, a canon character exists for a reason, and therefore there would have to be a good reason for new characters in a "9" sequel. But, I'd rather have new characters introduced than see the dead resurrected. I think it would ruin the whole point of the story to do that!
As for the former debate about prequels, I think what might be most interesting would be a sequel with the four survivors in their now changing world (and maybe even their own way of thinking now realizing that they are essentially human), but with several flashbacks to the past told through the eyes of Three, Four, and maybe Seven. I want to know more about the original eight stitchpunks' pasts, but I also want to know about the future.
Perhaps a better solution would be a couple of short films based on the movie-verse rather than a feature film?

Guys, it's Wikipedia. Don't get TOO excited yet. Remember when someone edited the 9 page to say the twins were both girls? Yeaaaahhhh

Hold on, guys, hold on. I know it's exciting as heck to think about, but could someone give me a reference that isn't just some overzealous fanthing banging away on Wikipedia? I didn't see one on the page, and that gives me doubts. :/ Sorry to burst the bubble, but I'm being realistic. And really, two films? I figure they'd pick one or the other. 9 wasn't a flop by any means, but I never heard any indication we'd get a third film in the mix.
I say hold our horses until we get a more "official" confirmation.
(But if it does come out 2015 or later ... holy shiz, I'll be 21!)
EDIT: Lol, Anna ninja'd me with a shorter post. XD But I agree with her. Highfive, Anna!

I now believe that I am partially psychic. I have dreamt about a sequel for 9 several times since like, December. No joke. And now my predictions have been CONFIRMED. Well, mostly, anyway. XD I always believed in you, 9! : D

We can all hope for such a possibility, but I wouldn't count on it. Wikipedia can be edited by anybody. Has anybody checked Shane Acker's page to see if this news has been confirmed?
...But, if it is true, I will be 23 when this happens.
