Aww, Pazam. *pats head* You want one of those toys that you squeeze to relieve stress? It can be shaped like 9, and you can squeeze it til its little eyes pop out. XD *shot*
I really like this theory, and if somehow 9 ACTUALLY woke on 9/9/09, then add me to the list of others who have watched it live in an alternate universe. :3

*breathes* It's okay, Basch... I'm okay... *dies*.....
.....*rises back from the dead* WHY SHANE? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REVEAL THE FACTS?? SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNE!! *smacked*
Okay, sorry about my spazz attack there, it's just that whenever a movie comes out, I usually have pet peeves about them. The 50 years deal is one of them. Which I'm trying to prevent from saying here but said it already... dang it...
But anyway, that'd be cool if 9 awoken on 9/9/09 at 9:00 am. Maybe the rag dolls are roaming our neighborhoods right now as we speak, or er, type... *rubs hands together sinisterly*

I'm curious, Pazam, why does it bother you so much?
I like this theory, really is a spiffin' idea XD

I'm curious, Pazam, why does it bother you so much? It's because...well...uh... ..... ........... This is gonna be harder than I thought! Uh... It's because (I'm going to be reasonable and unoffensive) while 9 was asleep, the 5X7 skeptics would be cheering off right now because it was only 5 at the time! Not 9! 5X7 is my second pet peeve in this movie, why? Because, because it looks wrong to me, that's why! I'm not being offensive, 5X7 skeptics. Also, 2 would've been DEAD by then! Hence now you know why the 50 years deal thingie is my ultimate pet peeve and why I absolutely hate it. ...... ........ ...SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEE!

Don't worry, you were being reasonable, Pazam. And you know what? It's so strange that you bring up 5x7 because of the 50 years. XD 7x9's my OTP, but I jumped at the thought of the 50 year span so that 5 and 7 could have a relationship. 83 It worked out perfectly for the "fanon" my sister and I have, so we took what we could. XD Thus, I ship 5x7 past, 9x7 present and beyond.

Just because it's possible time-wise doesn't mean it was... Honestly, I really don't see them together. At all. It just doesn't seem to work, nothing against 5x7 shippers though. I... kinda understand being bothered by 5x7 ( I don't mind people that like it though, it just... bothers me) I've never liked any pairings before, but I'm now completely obsessed with 7x9 Anyways, on topic with the thread, I really wish I would've seen 9 on the 9th now xD; I saw it on the 12th at 4:40 PM...... Yes, i still remember the exact time << I even remember how much my sandwhich for lunch was, and what kind of sandwhich I got... -has no life-

Skeptics means people who DON'T support it C: And if we're looking at it from the pairing angle, I choose to see it as 1 and 2 had 50 years to sneak off and make out be awesome old man buddies. Suddenly this whole 50 year gap seems exponentially more awesome!

That's amazing. And you lucky ducks that have seen the movie on 9/9/09. I really like that inter-dimension theory.

Okay, I have to admit that this theory is cool, but to me it's making me scratch my head. I've never seen the BluRay of 9 (though now I want to), so I've never heard that bit from Shane Acker. But here's why I don't think 50 years could have gone by between the stitchpunks:
a. While it might have made sense for 1 and 2 to be 50 years old because of their aged appearance, the other stitchpunks appear relatively young. Look at 3 and 4; how can they be 50 years old and still have that amount of energy and life left in them compared to the older 1 and 2??
b. Even if the machines destroyed a vast amount of life, plants would likely grow back quickly. Since evidently the only machine left at the time of 9's awakening is the cat beast which can't destroy plants, wouldn't plant life have engulfed the ruins they live in by now? I mean, I know there are occasional bits of grass seen, but that's not nearly enough foliage to support such a time span.
c. There are several human bodies left from the machine war that are still fairly intact. If 50 years had gone by, all of these bodies would be skeletons. This is particularly so for the scientist who died at 9's creation. If 50 years had gone by since his death, he'd be a skeleton and there'd be almost no remains left for 9 to see!!
d. If some humans were alive throughout 50 ears of warring with machines (which would explain the fresh bodies), wouldn't they have invented some better weaponry than WW2-style guns, etc? I'm no expert on technology, but it's steampunk style! Wouldn't 50 years have changed that look a bit?
e. Wouldn't all of these mechanical devices (including the stitchpunks) have rusted beyond repair after 50 years? While some of the environment reflects metal decay, wouldn't it be far worse if 50 years had gone by?
f. Finally (and this is more fan-based) isn't is kind of creepy to think that everyone is at least 50 years older than 9 and yet we pair him up with various characters?
...Okay, enough rambling. I'm sorry, but this theory really bothers me.

Considering that I do agree that the 50 year thing kind of made me go 'huh?' when I first heard it, I still have to kind of point out that in that case, it could be kind of weird to pair 9 with anyone because by the end of the movie, he's about a day or two old. Not sure how much difference that makes. But yeah, I agree with most of the points you made. I'm just kind of going along with it because Shane Acker himself said it...I think?

I agree on the points of the bodies not being decayed, that does seem a bit odd unless the killer gas in the air acted as a preservative or...something. I have no idea XD
As for the points about the characters, remember they were each CREATED as being a certain age. 1 and 2 were made as old men, so from day one they've looked like that. They don't age. And their minds will stay the same as they've always been, too, so whether they're two or fifty years old doesn't make much difference in terms of pairings.
