Hm. Maybe you're right. It just looked like Notre Dame in some of the old portraits I've seen... if it had a lot of war damage. Maybe they used the original designs and not how it looks now? I don't know. It just looked a lot like it to me.

It does sort of look like Notre Dame, but not EXACTLY. If you look at the movie "Hunchback of Notre Dame", that's pretty much exactly what the cathedral looks like. In 9, it looks more like a variation of it... or inspired by it, at the least.
Of course, it's hard to tell since there's an airplane in the roof, etc. XD

I just noticed something from an AMV I saw online... XD When they all get to the library, and 1 leaves to find "better" shelter for them, the twins run forward to 9 and start projecting the image he drew... However, one twin (I believe it was 3) GRABS 4's face, and flings him around to face the wall. And I mean, FLING. I was like: "Wow, that must have hurt". XD They were both smilin', though lol, I wanna see that! Can you post the amv? |

Anyways, I just saw the movie, and noticed a few things.
1: During the flashback, after 7 saves 2 and 5, she gives 1 this 'fuck off' look. So, she probly hated him even before the Church.
2: After rolling the barrel into the Factory, it sounds like the Fabrication Machine is saying 'NOOO'.
3: 3 and 4 were dancing on the record player after 5 went after the record player.
I think I noticed others, but I can't remember, so I'll post them later.

It is also possible that 6 told him, and only him, that 9 was going to come. Because he says "I always hoped" after he meets 9 and the way he says it and examines him that he hoped 6 was right and he is relieved that he was. It may be why it was so open to 9 in the first place, he seemed very open to 9 from the get go, even after he nailed him in the face. I think 7 might have known too, because when they first meet she says 'where have you been hiding?'. It also makes me think that a few years have indeed past since the scientist died to when 9 woke up. |

As we saw in the flashback scene, they didn't all find each other right away, but given they had 1-8 and years had passed without seeing any more, it was probably getting harder to believe that others had been created. So, when 2 says "I'd always hoped," it may be more because he'd simply hoped there were more stitchpunks out there, not that 9's arrival was foreseen in any way. As for 7, she just played it cooler than 2 did. It was easy enough to assume 9 had found someplace safe and decided to hole up there rather than risk getting lost or attacked while looking for others. |

One thing I notice the second time I watched it was when one of the Twins (3 maybe?) gets to the end of the newsreel of the chancellor and the war and shit generally going down, s/he kind of wobbles as the reel runs out and almost topples over, but the other Twin catches him/her.
Maybe projecting stuff makes the Twins space out/get dizzy?

Ahem... *dons cone of shame and "kick me" sign* I would like to apologize to all the people I yelled at over the cathedral issue. I've only had a small video of things to try to see what the cathedral looked like, so I didn't have the greatest reference. I just got back from watching the movie a second time, and now I have to say... It does bare a striking resemblance to Notre Dame. It started when I saw the painting and noticed the cathedral used to have two square steeples. I was used to seeing it with one steeple, since the other one got destroyed, so I didn't realize. Finally had to admit I was dead wrong when it showed the front as 5 and 9 went back and I fully realized, "OMG! It's the door!" Once you've seen an entrance like that, with statues from top to bottom, you can't easily forget it.
So again, I apologize profusely.
That being said, after watching this movie a second time I know I will enjoy this movie even if I watch a hundred times. These tiny insignificant things I was able to pick up on this time. Like, there are rifles or posts of some kind in the battlefield that have army helmets on them, like makeshift memorials or something. I think 6's drawing of the cat beast was from a page of a book, because I saw what looked like page numbers at the top.
I think if you got a high quality screenshot of the newspapers or books, you could read some of the articles. I saw a sentence that began talking about "America" and the article beneath the headline about how the scientist made the B.R.A.I.N seems to be talking about how the machine uses less energy than other machines.
Oh, and the most important thing I noticed this time around: for some reason, I remembered 2 being with 5 and the twins when 7 brings them in, which I now know is wrong. Anyway, so I was kind of watching 5 as he hurries under the helmet, and he's very nervous in the same way that never went away during the film, and 2 puts his arm around his shoulder in a reassuring manner. Say it with me now: Awwwwwwwwwwwwww.
If I could analyze every square inch of every frame in this movie, I would.

I just realized that the picture that 1 ripped from the book before the Seamstress scene was the hidden wallpaper from 9 Experiment. *hits self on head* I miss obvious things sometimes!

I apologize if this has already been mentioned... During the scene where 2 is inserting/tweaking 9's voice box, when it cuts to 2 saying "friend," 9 is stiff as a board. I know he's just standing still, but something looks so awkward about it.  |

I noticed she also shook her head a little bit...like she was saying "You disappoint/disgust me" or something. Wonder why she added the head-shake, wouldn't the look be enough? Something I noticed, during the voice-box tweaking scene. When 2 first starts tweaking it, and it sparks, 9 suddenly stands a little straighter. Almost like something jolted him. (Well, of course, the voice-box sparked, but still!) |

I'll have to watch the film again to double-check this, but at the end, I'm sure I remember 9 nodding to 5 briefly before he left. I just thought that was quite a cool reference to the original short, and an interesting role reversal.  (Sorry, it probably seems quite stupid that I don't add more here, but I'm nowhere near as good at analysing stuff as everyone else on this board! ;^^) |
