Naw, don't worry about it. I did that, too. I didn't realize 7 had two feathers on her helment for MONTHS, and she's my favorite character. XD!!

I don't know if this has been posted before, but has anyone else noticed that 7's number is missing?Um, 7, I don't know if 1's had the sharp objects safety talk with you yet, but... I don't think stabbing yourself in the back with your spear is proper knife safety protocol. I thought something looked off...I didn't notice it until near the end, but didn't get a good enough look. That photo pretty much clinches it though. Here's my thought. - 7, frustrated to the breaking point with 1's rule, tries to cut her own number off. - 2 either catches her in the act or finds her afterwards, in severe pain or unconscious. - 2 patches up 7...he tries to convince her to stay with the group, but she refuses and leaves A barebones explanation, pretty much. Also, I didn't even think about this until it was too late, but did anyone catch the dates on the newspapers?

I just realized two bits of Fridge Brilliance after re-looking over the TV Tropes page and watching my (crappy) copy.
1 states two things: The gas killed everything. He kept everyone safe for years.
The first bit of brilliance is "the gas killed everything". INCLUDING ALL BACTERIA THAT WOULD DECOMPOSE BODIES. Acker is surely a genius for coming up with something so simple and yet so brilliant!
The second is the "all these years" thing. We know that the war between humans and machines didn't last all that long, only a few months at most. However, 1 still says years. So this means that 9 must have been out for quite some time, at least 3 years. The scientist was alive and had more life force to give the other creations. Perhaps he didn't have enough when he created 9 and 9 needed to wit before waking to be at full possible capacity?
EDIT: Did anyone else notice that the person narrating some of the trailers is BATMAN? Seriously, it's Rino Romano, he played Batman in The Batman.

I noticed after my third time watching it that when the CSM looks in the can again after capturing 2 toward the beginning of the movie, you can see on one of the openings of the can (where 9 escapes out of) a piece of burlap is on one of the sharp edges. Which explains how 9 tore open his arm, from getting it caught on the sharp corner of the can. If that sentence makes any sense XP

My sister says she assumed it happened after the cat knocks the can aside, because you see him grab his shoulder. It's possible the dolls were all set loose as soon as they were created and eventually met with each other. If I remember correctly, 7 comes to 1, 8 and 6 saying she found others with 5, 2 and the twins behind her. After all, we're not sure how long the other dolls were around, how much time passed between each creation, or how long it took for the war to end. So it's possible they were around for a few years before finding the cathedral, or 9 took the longest to make because the last and the scientist would want him to be the most perfected. ... Your theory is much less complicated, I realize.

Your theory is much less complicated, I realize. Well, if you consider the Scientist's journal, the ragdolls' births take place only a few days apart. But who knows how long they've been out after his death? I did notice something that is no doubt a mere coincidence but is still interesting... On 1's makeshift calendar/Vietnam wall, all the characters that are NOT crossed out end up dead... All the uncomfirmed deaths end up surviving, and all the confirmed living end up dead... all save 9, who, it could be said, didn't die only because 2 pushed him out of the way. 2 literally took 9's place in that pattern. 2 was assumed dead by 1 and crossed off, like 3 and 4 and 7, making him another unconfirmed death. 9, on the other hand, would have been the first to die by the talisman, making him the last uncrossed name to end up dead in the film... if 2 hadn't pushed him out of the way. SPOOKY, NO? Another thing: The area in the library where 1 is walking around, right before he's attacked by the Seamstress, is actually right next to the pool of water where they send 2 off. You can see the railing surrounding the water and the intricate gold-decorated backing in most of the camera angles. I noticed that in the opening scene, where we watch 9 dangle from the transfer device by a thread, there's a spiderweb developing behind him. ... OF COURSE the insects outlast the humans. OF COURSE. XC ... The scientists face as the camera overlooks his dead body, shifting from the past to the present... The set of his eyebrows conveys such... gaaaah.

I just noticed something from an AMV I saw online... XD When they all get to the library, and 1 leaves to find "better" shelter for them, the twins run forward to 9 and start projecting the image he drew...
However, one twin (I believe it was 3) GRABS 4's face, and flings him around to face the wall. And I mean, FLING. I was like: "Wow, that must have hurt". XD They were both smilin', though

I find it interesting how the stitchpunks breathe and can feel pain, though obviously not to the same standards we do (I imagine being impaled through the leg might bug a human JUST a bit more than it did 7), so it was probably well within their realm of tolerance.

I'm glad someone else noticed the bit with the scientist. I felt so stupid not realizing it until my second viewing. When he gave 9 the last bit of his soul, he collapsed, and was still decently fleshy. When you see him again, it looks as though he's partly mummified, down to nothing but skin, hair, and bones.
I think it's a general assumption that it's been years since the scientist created the nine, and it just took 9 himself much longer to wake up? Could be that the scientist had actively activated the others with a little jostle. Note that 9 didn't fall until the wire holding him up had worn away to nothing, and that does not take place in just a few days.
...looking back at that 7 screenshot, does anyone else notice that the little patch covering her number looks like a heart? XD *brick'd*

Well, I don't think the scientist is actually DECOMPOSED. I think he's just utterly dehydrated. Remember, over 50% of the human body is water, and when we die all that water just kinda dries up. After only a couple months, even a freshly dead body will look mummified because of that.

I agree with CJ about 9's waking. I read that when the scientist first created 1 that he tried to climb out of his hands after he was removed from the transfer device. That means the scientist could have tapped on the dolls or something to help wake them up. 9, however didn't have the scientist there to wake him up.
And also a good judgment of time might be the ropes that held 9 up. Unless something naturally cut them (and i'm not sure what could have) it would have taken a while for the rope to age enough for 9 to fall.
Somethings I also noticed ....
1.) When 1 is scolding 5 and 9 and then stomps his staff 8 comes to his side (for the second time....8's like a dog or something XD comes when he's called) 8 stands up and stabs a BOOK! now that might be very important to some people, but to me thats kinda insulting XDD lol
2.) During the "Over the Rainbow scene" and i'm not sure if anyone pointed this out already, but as 3 and 4 go around on the record player, their eyes are blinking. Much like 2's when he is attached to the Seamstress. To me it seems like they were mimicking him while trying to scare 7.
3.) During the "Winged Beast Scene' does anyone else notice that as 1 falls and his caught by 9 that 8 is seen in the side of the shot, just watching as 1 falls. And then he simply disappears. WTF?!
4.) This one is from the short film and its only something small...as 9 runs away from the Cat Beast he jumps and spins on a ...uh man! i always forget...and i'm a third year in animation! WTF *slaps self* Well it was one of the first devices used in animation a Zotrobe or something along those lines. Though it is all rusted and gross. My teacher didn't even catch it and I think he saw the short like...6 times? XD
I think I have more...but idk i'll try and think of them.

Now that I look at it... the Church looks a heck of a lot like Notre Dame. Actually, almost EXACTLY like Notre Dame.
IMDB claims it IS, but I'm not sure. I just know that the shape of the church, as well as the stained glass, look almost identical to pictures I've seen of Notre Dame.

I just know that the shape of the church, as well as the stained glass, look almost identical to pictures I've seen of Notre Dame. ::FUME:: Notre Dame is an incredibly detailed building with statues all along the front of it, flying buttresses at the back, and it's much bigger than the cathedral in 9. Sure, it's similar, but I have been to visit Notre Dame (only good thing that happened that trip, might I add) and they're not close enough to be officially linked together. This is the front of Notre Dame. The two towers are completely different from the roof of 9's cathedral, where there's one tower off to the side. Here's the back of Notre Dame. Again, very elaborate and not like the cathedral. In fact, the closest structure I can find to the cathedral is the Basilica of Sainte Anne de Beaupre in Quebec City. Okay, rant done. No offense meant to people, I'm sure I'd make the assumption too of thinking Notre Dame, but the fact is that Notre Dame has many statues and structures, and the cathedral is just a place of worship, nothing notable. Okay, to say what I came on to say in the first place before I went into crazy-mode... I only just noticed that when 9 tries to talk to 2 he's trying to say, "I can't speak." Or at least, that's how I read his mouth movements. In spite of how much he annoyed me, that made me go, "Aw, poor guy."
