9 TV Schedule

I didn't really find a thread for this, so I'll just create one. Be a good spot to alert people of times when the movie will be on TV.

If you hear that 9 is going to show on TV soon, post the time, date, and channel here and let other forumers know!!

I've heard of three days and times when 9 is going to be on TV soon.

Monday, February 20, 2012 on USA Network at 1:30 am

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 on Sy Fy at 3:30 am

Friday, March 1, 2012 on Sy Fy at 11:30 pm

Fixed the last date for you. It airs on March 1st, not the 2nd.

These are the Eastern Time, sorry should have made that clear. ^^

... HOLY CRAP IT'S COMING ON IN TWO HOURS. (It's on an hour earlier for us in Central Time. XD) I am so watching it, if only so I can sit and yell at the TV at all the parts they cut out!

I've only ever spotted it on one of the Sky channels over here, and that was months ago... Oh well, I have the DVD anyway.

Same here, I live in England down south, wish sky would put those kind of films on more often, but I watched it when it first came on Sky Premiere! I was as happy as can be, even if I bought the DVD just a week before. LOL

Well, I watched it. BOY, DID I WATCH IT. And boy, did I curse at the TV, because. THE STUFF THEY CUT. It was unbelievable. The movie's about 72 minutes long without the credits, and these networks always condense the credits into that minute-long fast-forward thing, so we're taking 73, maybe 74 minutes total? It aired in a 90-minute programming block, which you'd think would be long enough to leave it mostly intact, but nope! Not on American basic cable!

Some stuff they cut YES I TOOK NOTES DON'T JUDGE ME, which I'm putting under a spoiler tag in case anyone wants to spot them on their own:

- Part of 2's dialogue when he first meets 9 (in a really awkward place, too)

- The part when 9 and 5 are heading towards the lift and 5 says, "It didn't kill him?"

- A big chunk of 1 and 9's dialogue before 9 goes up to the watchtower

- The part where 9 and 5 discover 2's things, and speculate on why he was out there

- THEY CUT. THEM BUILDING. THE LIGHTSTAFF. The whole scene. I mean, what is that? Imagine if you've never seen the movie before. All of a sudden 9's carrying this stick with a light bulb on the end of it and you're like, where did that come from? ALSO IT WAS AN IMPORTANT CHARACTER/WORLD-BUILDING MOMENT. I had some nice, satisfying Nerd Rage over this. XD

- The entire factory chase sequence. Literally, it goes from 9 waking the machine and the three of them starting to run up the ramp, and then all of a sudden they're running into the coal chute. You barely even see the machine at all.

- Part of the "cataloging" scene with the twins (and 7's line explaining what they're doing)

- "YOU... AWAKENED... WHAT? YOU FOOLS!" I had a sad. :(

And a whole bunch of little transitions and stuff. In total I'd say they cut about ten minutes out of the film. It was really interesting to watch, because it reminded me just how tight this film is. There's very little fat that you can trim. Interestingly, the cuts were almost all in the first half of the movie. And get this -- they left in 8's magnet scene, which, as Mel pointed out, would've been the most likely to go from a content standpoint. 6 was actually the only one whose scenes/lines weren't cut. Guess whoever edited this movie is a 6 fan. XD

It was weird seeing it with commercials, too, although I have to say that whoever inserted the breaks had a sense of humor. Like when 9 turned off the lightstaff and it went to commercial. XD

The question is, am I going to watch this again on SyFy and see if it's the same edit?

I wonder if the basic cable airing will attract any new fans? That'd be pretty cool!

I stayed up late watching is on USA. So totally worth it. Though I only caught the end and could only see part of the Over The Rainbow scene that was cut out: just a line or two from the song when 5 was flipping through the records.

ALMOST got my husband to watch it ;-; So close. I'll get him one of these days.

Sadly, I couldn't watch it last night, though I do plan to try to catch it Wednesday and then on March 2.

I can't believe they would seriously cut out all of that stuff, especially the scene when they built the lightstaff...I mean, seriously? That's like 9's iconic symbol and it goes on to play a rather important role...and they just cut it out?

But on the plus side, it is on TV. So I can't complain about that.
