Why would they cut any of it?! Because it was too confusing?! Or worse--TOO SCARY for children, ooooooooo! DX I mean, seriously! I could name two films that would be more suitable for cuts than 9. AND I WATCHED THEM TONIGHT! This makes me so... UGH.

I believe we are all in agreement that the cut scenes were a BAD idea. The movie was ALREADY THE LENGTH OF A MADE FOR TV MOVIE. The cuts were unnecessary. I saw the movie on SyFy way back once before, and immediately after I saw a SLEW of people saying it was awful or being confused. And they had right to be and think so. It is a severely butchered version of the film. They cut nearly 15 minutes of the movie out. It is short enough as it is, cutting anything is just... unnecessary. Many movie channels, HBO and Stars and such, show movies UNEDITED so if 9 pops up on those watch them. But don't watch it, or any other movie really, on a network channel. They always do this. ALWAYS. (except USA, they usually leave their movies relatively untouched, and I have only seen the horrendous SyFy cut) And it couldn't have been cut for content, by the way. Since almost ALL SyFy original movies are HORROR films. (depite the name, the channel shows an equal amount of horror and science fiction) Though if this DOES get people to get interested in it... maybe they'll buy the DVD and see it in all of its real glory. 8| tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/Nine Scroll down until you see Bowdlerise. I fixed it.

I certainly hope that's the case, that people will get curious and want to watch the full version... But for those who don't realize it's been cut, it definitely just seems like a horrible film. Which, as we all now, it DEFINITELY is not.

If any of ya'll planned to catch 9 on SyFy this friday, apparently they changed the time and it's now showing this Thursday, March 1, at 11:35 pm.
Just a heads up, I've double checked this and this is the time, check out the SyFy site if you need to see it for yourself..

. . . w-whut? Dammit, Syfy! D8< Why'd you have to ruin all our plans?
*sigh* In any case, thanks for the heads-up, Moonphantom. XD; I would've been waiting on Friday, wondering why it wasn't on yet.

Well, I watched it. BOY, DID I WATCH IT. And boy, did I curse at the TV, because. THE STUFF THEY CUT. It was unbelievable. The movie's about 72 minutes long without the credits, and these networks always condense the credits into that minute-long fast-forward thing, so we're taking 73, maybe 74 minutes total? It aired in a 90-minute programming block, which you'd think would be long enough to leave it mostly intact, but nope! Not on American basic cable! Some stuff they cut YES I TOOK NOTES DON'T JUDGE ME, which I'm putting under a spoiler tag in case anyone wants to spot them on their own: - Part of 2's dialogue when he first meets 9 (in a really awkward place, too)
- The part when 9 and 5 are heading towards the lift and 5 says, "It didn't kill him?"
- A big chunk of 1 and 9's dialogue before 9 goes up to the watchtower
- The part where 9 and 5 discover 2's things, and speculate on why he was out there
- THEY CUT. THEM BUILDING. THE LIGHTSTAFF. The whole scene. I mean, what is that? Imagine if you've never seen the movie before. All of a sudden 9's carrying this stick with a light bulb on the end of it and you're like, where did that come from? ALSO IT WAS AN IMPORTANT CHARACTER/WORLD-BUILDING MOMENT. I had some nice, satisfying Nerd Rage over this. XD
- The entire factory chase sequence. Literally, it goes from 9 waking the machine and the three of them starting to run up the ramp, and then all of a sudden they're running into the coal chute. You barely even see the machine at all.
- Part of the "cataloging" scene with the twins (and 7's line explaining what they're doing)
- "YOU... AWAKENED... WHAT? YOU FOOLS!" I had a sad. :( And a whole bunch of little transitions and stuff. In total I'd say they cut about ten minutes out of the film. It was really interesting to watch, because it reminded me just how tight this film is. There's very little fat that you can trim. Interestingly, the cuts were almost all in the first half of the movie. And get this -- they left in 8's magnet scene, which, as Mel pointed out, would've been the most likely to go from a content standpoint. 6 was actually the only one whose scenes/lines weren't cut. Guess whoever edited this movie is a 6 fan. XD It was weird seeing it with commercials, too, although I have to say that whoever inserted the breaks had a sense of humor. Like when 9 turned off the lightstaff and it went to commercial. XD The question is, am I going to watch this again on SyFy and see if it's the same edit?I wonder if the basic cable airing will attract any new fans? That'd be pretty cool! F*CK THEM FOR EDITING! well i have the DVD so :3333333

Oh....wow.
The movie doesn't warrant a cut what with it's already short run time. A part of me wants to see this butchered mess, but another part of me doesn't wanna go through the inevitable rage.

SyFy, April 7th, 9:00 AM. You're welcome. You're sorry, should be more like it. That's 6:00 AM for me. XD I'll either have to get up really early, or pull an all-nighter. But considering it's spring break, I might just accept that challenge.....

Well, I stayed up. The whole night. And you kow what? It turns out that they're showing it here the exact same time as they're showing it in Eastern. So, still at 9:00. 3 hours from now...
I guess I can just add this to the list of crazy things that 9 has made me do. XD
