I have a theory about a disease that stitchpunks can get called RUST.
Here's a quick description in the beginning of the Role Play THE RUST:
ATTENTION STITCHPUNKS!!
Good morning...
As you all know, our kind is the last shred of humanity left on this planet as far as we know.
We are engaged with the Machines, whom are the cause of the extinction of the human race as it once was.
Make no mistake about it; this is a war of survival.
Just like the humans before us, our extinction or continuation is at stake here.
For the past few years, we've more than held our own against the mechanical menace, at times their casualties outnumbering ours 50 to one in a single battle.
I praise your efforts.
For until now, we've been winning the war.
However...
As a few of you may already know, the Machines may soon be the least of our problems.
There is a disease, an infection of sorts, running rampant on our borders and becoming worse as the days pass since the rains began again...
It is simply called Rust, for that is what it does to our bodies, making them unfit to live and function in.
But even worse, while the Rust ravages a stitchpunk's body, it often fries our processors and corrupts our very souls as it spreads, turning the infected into near-mindless and violent destroyers in the process before they finally expire.
As they attack our kind, they spread the Rust in their oil and in metal-to-metal contact, often through bites, violent clawings or even rough physical contact.
Once a stitch has contracted Rust, if they're lucky, they can sometimes avoid death by severing the infected limb before it spreads.
But if it reaches your oil-stream...you're finished.
You might as well have someone bash your head in right there and save us all the trouble later.
I know what you're thinking: you think that I'm crazy because I'm basically talking about zombie-stitchpunks.
It may sound laughable, but for those who've seen it, it's not funny in the slightest.
It's very real, and there is no cure.
These Rust-Infected are as tough as nails and most of their pain-receptors become fried; and, unlike the Machines, cannot strategize nor feel emotions, including fear, so they can't be frightened away by the shock of the deaths of their comrades.
This means that to achieve victory, every single one of them must be destroyed; and we all know how tough it is just to kill one stitchpunk...imagine thousands of them...
And between being caught between these Rust-Infected and the Machines, who continue to attack us...we won't last long...
And so, we've done some research, Faber and I, and we've come to the conclusion that since neither the Rust-Infected nor the Machines can swim, it would be in our best interest to leave the mainland as soon as possible until the Machines hopefully either destroy the Rust-Infected, or the Infected themselves rust and corrode away to nothing.
We shall construct a large raft over the following week and float it straight out of the city and to the ocean, where we can seek shelter off the coast on some island, anything to put water between us and our attackers.
Of you that would heed our warning, we would appreciate that you sign up here below this, listing how you might be helpful in our cause.
We shall review your profiles and leave within a week's time at 8:00 Central Daylight Time if all goes well.
We may not have much time after that before the Rust-Infected and Machines overrun the Library so please be on time.
Feel free to intermingle and get to know your soon-to-be teammates in survival before we cast off.
Good Luck, and may the Maker watch over us.
