The Cat Beast had it's skin made of the dolls. But just how would it get the skins of the dolls on itself without anything to help it?

Perhaps the fabrication machine killed the dolls, then made the cat beast? It's never really explained about Mr Fabby's existance in the short, so it's a possibility....

I don't think the fab was an issue in the short. The cat beast was using the talisman to suck out souls.
I prefer to use the MST3K mantra for things like this.
"Just repeat to yourself "It's just a show, I should really just relax."" XD
In any case, it's likely the skin of the other dolls could've been something like a shirt. It took it off, stitched them with its own claws, put it back on.

That is messed up. Just imagine if all this was organic to.The Cat-beast would be removing a human leather jacket 'instead' of cloth. (ewugh)

Actually, I don't think Mr. Fab made the Cat Beast after all the dolls were killed. After 5 was killed in the short, later on you see the Cat Beast wearing his skin.

Maybe the Seamstress did it for him But honestly, I think in the short's universe, the Catbeast probably put the skins on himself. He doesn't have hands exactly, but his claws and arms are pretty long, and he's capable of handling small objects (like the talisman, etc.)

So with a needle and some thread, the Cat Beast is fully capable of sewing itself a nice sweater made of ragdoll skins. *shot repeatedly* No Seamstress needed here!

If you think about it, the Cat Beast in the short could have given Acker ideas for the others.
Soul taking=Fab Skin shirt=Seamstress
I saw it as the only threat in the short, so Im sure it did all it's handy work on it's own.

Oh great... So you'd go to Short Film CSM if you need a sweater knitted?
