I'd rather have voices. I thought the short was adorable without it, and they did a good job on tellling a story without words....just for the movie I want words.

To tell the truth, i can't compare them. The short was amazing and breath-taking with the story that Shane started. The characters( as in; 5, 9, and CSM) were so detailed with how the cloths moved and stretched, and how CSM's body moved and sounded, just pure magic and genius.
Now, for the feature length film. It's just plain beautiful, A perfect mixture of darkness and light through out the trailer and pictures. Light has ALWAYS been a huge element when it comes to films like these, even Shane has said it many many times in almost every interview he has been in so far. Having a wider range of characters and behaviors of each of them gives the story so much more to enjoy. Along with an award winning cast such as; Martin Landau, Elijah Wood, and Christopher Plummer.
There have been more then enough arguments about whether the film will be horrible because of the voices, since the original short did NOT have voices what's so ever. However this answer will always come up to try and resolve these arguments; "Would you like to watch a whole 78minute movie with NO voices?" This is true with how the media is now. Voices make a BIG difference, because so far from what we have guessed 9 will possibly be rated around PG-13. Where then of course parents will bring their children to see this movie, trying please the majority of this audience would need voices so they will stay and enjoy the movie. As well as give more emotion and define the characters more. Of course there will most likely be the following reply' "Well, WALL-E did not have a lot of voices and look how much money it made." Again this is true, but Wall-e, Eve, and the other robots at least made noises to help you understand what they were saying or feeling. From what I have seen and heard the only sounds that the rag doll creatures would make is the sound of their lens eyes opening and closing.

Wall-E also had that huge moment of silence at the begining. It was diffrent but got rather dull after awhile. Voice adds to the emotion as well as reading facial expresions. You sometimes need a voice to understand if a person is mad/mad or sad/mad If they are smileing to hide a sad fact or if it's sincere. You need a voice to get the hint to drop.

Pretty much the same here, I can't sit through an hour plus of no dialogue. It has to be there, even if it's rudimentary.

Yeah, I would rather have voices in the movie also. no dialogue worked in the short, but for a 70+ min movie? not really.

I would have no problem with there being no dialogue in this film, to be completely honest. I would neither go crazy, nor lose focus.
But I would pity the creators, indeed. It would be so hard to get the point of the film and the depth of the characters across without voices.

IMO, the short was great even without voices. He portrayed their emotions very effectively with their body motions. Of course when it comes to the feature-length film, I'd prefer voices. I'd probably get bored after 15 minutes or so if there's no conversation going on, and wonder what is going on and what the background story is. Sure you could tell the story without voices, but in a movie-length film, eh I don't know... There's too much time to explore alot of scenarios in a movie and conversations between characters would help develop the characters and the plot. That's my 2 cents for ya.

Voices, definitely. With something the length that this will be, plenty more emotions will be explored that could not be well depicted without the help of it. To keep the audience on track and on par with the characters, voices are necessary, because it works as making sure the audience doesn't get confused, drift off, or lose interest, which would be bound to happen. And additionally, vocal expression colors the characters much more vividly, and as koh said, develop plot/characters effectively.
The short did great without voices, but the movie needs it.
Voice actors FTW! :3
