7 killed the catbeast later, so it's all good 9 and 5 aren't horribly violent fellows. They were hoping they could get 2, and leave undetected. That didn't happen, but yeah. XD

^ True. Plus that part where they build the staff is one of my favorites in the whole movie. It's just so cute! And cuteness is always win. :D (on a related note, I lol whenever 9 tries to use light at the catbeast like a villager using fire at Frankenstein's monster. XDDD until it realizes how stupid that is XDD). LOL, especially how they both seem to realize how stupid it is at the same time. XD

I really only blame him for 2's death, directly. And especially not 5 or 6's. But that's just me.

If you ask me though, the person who flips the on switch for the killing machine is responsible for every death the machine causes until it's flipped off. It's still manslaughter whether he meant to do it or not.

I actually don't blame him at all (despite the fact that I LAUGHED SO HARD AT THAT PICTURE). I mean, yes, he DID act like a complete moron, but in his defense he was newborn and naive and didn't have any kind of idea what would have happened.
However this does not stop me from making HIM put all the blame on himself in fics... because I am mean to characters I love. XD And they do say that ignorance is not an excuse so maybe you're right. *shrug* I just can't help but feel sorry for him (and yet pick on him much like everyone else) because he honestly didn't know what would have happened. Should have listened to 2 a bit more carefully though.

How so? The only one he could in any way be blamed for is 2's death, and that was 2's choice to try and move him out of the way anyways. PLUS, 2 was already supposedly going to die, since 1 sent him out. If anyone is to blame for that, it's 1. 1 sacrificed himself, by his own choice, 5 waited too long to run, 6 knew he was going to die(in my eyes anyways) and let it happen, 8 was irresponsible..
..Sorry, it just..really bugs me when people call him a moron(or worse) for something that was a complete accident. It's not like he meant it, and he wasn't directly responsible for the resulting deaths. He's naive, but that doesn't mean he deserves to be called /stupid./ The action itself was a bit stupid, yes, but not 9 himself.
Of course, just my opinion, but.. I dunno, think about it a little. Maybe he could somehow be indirectly to blame, but it's a little harsh even then.

In essence he really was at least partly responsible for everyone's deaths in some small manner, mainly because he should've listened to 2 in the beginning. I honestly do not think he's a moron at all, but I don't really think there's a better word to describe him. Except for naïve, as you said, and he really is that.
I know full well that he did not mean it, which is part of the reason why and stand up for him so many times. He is directly to blame for the machine waking up, however the Fabrication Machine takes blame for all the deaths because he is the one who actually killed them. Although, considering that I am a Fabrication Machine fan it actually is kind of hard for me to put full blame on him too. XD
I know where you're coming from though, and I agree with you. I don't think 9 has full blame, not in this kind of situation, despite how stupidly he may have acted, and that can be explained away from his youth in his curiosity they do say curiosity killed the cat after all. You also make a very good point, 2 did save him and if 2 did not move him out of the way then 9 would've been the first to die.
You are completely entitled to your own opinion, do not worry. 83
9 is actually one of my 3 favorite characters, so a little bit harder on him without realizing it at times, because I really like to be mean to my favorites.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have any problem with 9, he's fun to use for jokes, just like all the other characters you could care to mention, but just the fact that he's naive doesn't mean he's innocent, He didn't kill anybody with his own two hands or in cold blood, but he's the one who set the events in motion that got them killed.
Say, for example in a Friday the Thirteenth movie, the main character found an interesting book with some fun things to try, so he goes out and tries it. Turns out the book resurrected Jason using that spell he tried for fun out of curiosity. Then Jason kills 5 of his friends because he's Jason before the main character manages to kill/seal him away again. Now, you're not immediately gonna think that the main character murdered all of his friends, but you know that if he hadn't decided to fuck with something he didn't understand, nobody would have died at all. 9 is still responsible for those deaths, and I'm just happy that he feels bad for it, but that doesn't change the fact that he IS the cause of every character's death (apart from Scientist)

Hmn... you DO bring up a good point... but even so I wouldn't be particularly hard on that character either. XD I suppose I'm a bit more forgiving than you are Ani, but que sera sera!
He IS the cause of the events, but not the cause of the deaths per say, but it's more like... a shared blame?

It was the Scientist's fault for creating 9 in the first place. You can't put a talisman in the machine if you don't exist! But anyway, they all thought they had blown up the machine... but they didn't, resulting in 5's death. 6 ran toward the machine despite two people trying to drag him away... 1 shoved 9 out of the way when he was standing there, ready to kill himself... 8 got captured, too... Aside from 2, I don't think 9 killed any of the others directly. I personally think he did pretty good for someone who only lived for 2-3 days. XD
