Wow, harsh. I'd love to hear Christopher Plummer's real singing voice sometime, 'cuz if it's half as good as his regular voice, I'll be happy.
Cuz really, this guy is a pro. The last time I was so drawn in by a vocal performance was Douglas Rain's performance of the HAL-9000. Just listening to Plummer in the new "Making of 9" clip, speaking in that low, easy voice...I'll admit, it gave me chills. Plummer has such a wide range of vocal control, able to pull off sultry AND gruff with seeming ease.
He's quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

I kinda like this version. It's not as...I guess the word I'm looking for would be "Broadway-ish" as the final version, but Christopher Plummer was great!
The excerpt of his autobiography was fun to read. It explains why they dubbed him in the first place.

I had the benefit of going in fresh, since I've not seen The Sound of Music yet...and I gotta say while he was a bit quiet in sections, he's got a wonderful vibrato. And when he pushed it a bit, his voice was very rich and brimmed with emotion.
He's got a great singing voice, I'm sad to see it was removed.

It's weird, the only two films I've seen Christopher Plummer in are The Sound of Music and Don Bluth's An American Tail. He does the voice of the French bird Henri which is strange b/c it sounds nothing like him! lol So yeah, the only live action role I've seen him play is Captain Von Trapp and he was so young in that film I barely recognized his voice when I heard it in 9! O.o He's gotten so old! But he does play the character of 1 PERFECTLY! One of my favorite lines of his is, "You're a curse, a fool! Guided by pointless queries!" It sounded so original b/c I have never heard anyone use the word "query" in place of "questions" but it sounds SO much better than just plain, boring "questions"!

Woah, that bird WAS Plummer? I thought I was imagining the bird sounding like him... I never paid attention to the credits....
One thing he was in that I never noticed was Madeline. He was the narrator for the animated movie and the episodes, if memory serves me correctly.
He was also Barnaby Crookedman in Babes in Toyland. That doesn't surprise me one bit though.

He's played quite a few villainous parts over the years. But yeah, I'd love to hear him do a Shakespearean monologue. His voice is just fantastic.
...and now I'm picturing him doing Charlton Heston's monologue in Hamlet...ack.
Grand Duke of Owls, ftw!

*jumps in*
I was looking at some article today, and apparently Plummer's playing the lead character in a movie called "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus". I don't know too much about the movie itself, other than the fact that he'll be playing a guy who gained immortality and magic through a deal with the Devil. Already it sounds pretty interesting; I'll probably go see it when it comes out.

He'd already shot several scenes, I think they were leaving those scenes in and getting Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell to replace him. But I didn't know Mr. Plummer was in it. Now I want to watch it even more.

XD Just stumbled on this (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/c/christopher_plummer.html) while surfing BrainyQuote. Mr. Plummer appears to be quite the character, XD XD XD. Thanks for sharing that. "I would rather not know about how one gets parts in movies these days. " Haha, me too, Mr. Plummer.

Bumping!
I was watching and old old movie I scrounged from a movie wearhouse. In one of the trailers they were talking about the Veletein Rabbit movie from my childhood and none other than Mr. Plummer narriates it!
I must find this copy, not only for the memories, but to hear Mr. Plummer's narriation!

Zen, I am sorry to tell you that I HAVE that movie and have no way to get it to you. XD
I don't think I'll EVER forget the day I realized Plummer was in Rock-A-Doodle. With him singing. XD
... *runs off to find that battery song*

Well, he really sorta talks more than sings in Rock-a-Doodle.
What version of The Velveteen Rabbit has Christopher Plummer? D: I'd like to see it!

LOL wow, I wonder how they got him to do that movie XD
I know he did narrate David the Gnome, though. I almost spat my soda when I saw his name in the credits. I watched it all the time as a kid.
