To celebrate 9’s 12th anniversary I would like to share something I discovered. On Instagram, I stumbled on an account of an animator name Ken Duncan. He used to work at Disney for 12 years until he left in 2002. It turns out he was also one of the animators on 9. As I’m writing this, he posted his work on the film 4 days ago.

I recommend you watch the ‘twins’ clip first, it was animated differently. It opens up questions as to what other ideas were left out of the film. If you guys have an account on Instagram, go follow him, his other animation works and pictures are great too. Just don’t ask him about the 9 stuff like ‘where there be a sequel?” or the scrapped ideas. He was just the animator, he was not in charge of the script.

Awesome, great find!! The changes in the scene sound like the film was initially going to have the talisman be two halves of a whole like in the original short.
