This is copy+pasted from my tumblr, so if you saw it there first, that's where I got it. ;O
So…it is waaaayyyy too early to theorize about anything, especially when all we have is one post that may or may not imply that something 9 related is coming soon. But gosh darnit if I’m not a die hard 9 fan!!! It’s just fun to think about this kind of stuff again!!!
(if you don't know what I'm talking about, check it out here: www.facebook.com/9scientist/)
So…the facebook post.
“The light has faintly flickered on again beneath the ashes and I have begun the long awaited search for hope…I must find 9”
Let’s try to break it down!
I’m going to start with the last part.
“I must find 9″
To start things out…this is the Scientist.
He’s super dead.
So what’s he doing making a Facebook post all of a sudden? Let alone say that he’s going to go out and “find 9″?
I don’t think he’s come back to life. The toxins released by the machines have poisoned any possibility for any survivors, and the life-giving rain at the end won’t produce organic life for many, many more years.
Sooo, what if…somehow….there was a part of the Scientist’s soul that awoke in something?
When the souls of 1, 2, 5, 6, and 8 flew away and became rain or whatever, perhaps, by some miracle, those parts of his soul alchemized into, like, a leftover stitchpunk, or even one of the machines.
Now lets rewind to the first part of the post.
“The light has faintly flickered on again beneath the ashes and I have begun the long awaited search for hope…”
The words he chose sound an awful lot like something is turning on. Not waking up. This is a description for something mechanical. The Scientist is alive, but I don’t think he’s in his human body anymore.
It’s also worth noting that the individual parts of the Scientist’s soul seem to have their own identity, and have no memories or knowledge that the Scientist has. But maybe when multiple parts of his soul come together, they become more like the Scientist. So maybe when 1, 2, 5, 6, and 8 came together and rained themselves on whatever, the Scientist woke up completely conscious in this new body. I mean, that’s 5 outta 9 pieces of the soul, that’s almost a whole Scientist!
Okay I’m going to go off on a tangent and I don’t even believe this could be a thing but this thought came into my head and I just gotta let it out. Just gotta share. So what if the Scientist somehow awoke in the B.R.A.I.N.? Like??? It would kinda work, right? It would make sense for it to have the memories and knowledge of the Scientist, because it got all of its brain from the Scientist. Also it was totally built with a receptacle to hold souls.
But also it was evil. And super dead.
So who knows? What do you guys think?
