Hello! Is this thing on? Yes? Cool. So for the twenty or so of us still kickin', long story short: I'm doing an essay for school, I make a nod to 9 in the essay, and I did a lot of research about the tools the movie used. And I wound up finding a presentation that shows a whole bunch of stuff I haven't seen before, and I learned a helluva lot more about how the movie was made. There's a lot more matte painting than you'd think, and it's incredible. Also, they play a trailer and a clip at the end, so it gets all nostalgic. It's 23 minutes long, so if you have the time, settle in and enjoy~!

Wow, good find - that was really interesting! I knew they'd used matt paintings for the clouds and so forth, but I never realised just how much of the other backgrounds they comprised! It's amusing to see how much time and effort they put towards cutting all the corners they could in order to get it done on time, and doing it so well that it's completely unnoticeable. There are valid criticisms to be made re the plot, script and characters, but if anybody rags on the technical brilliance of the film I'll be willing to challenge them to trial by combat. Well, apart from animation errors like 7's magic patch, but w/ever. XD
...His lisp is a little distracting once you notice it...

Well, yes, you're right - stepping back and rewatching the movie shows that it wasn't perfect. The script was a bit dry, and some characters are weak. The story is probably the saddest part, because while it was good, it wasn't the best it could've been. They just didn't have the time, and it was more about showing the world more than anything - something they pulled off ridiculously well, given the amount of OCs and stories it spawned. XD
But yes, Starz did some real magic with the movie, and the talent they have is incredible. The movie, visually, was in very capable hands.
. . . he has a lisp? Lol, I was barely paying attention. XD

That was a great watch/great find! It's crazy how much of it they painted. Until they pointed some of them out, I would have never guessed some of them were done that way. Major kudos to the artists/animators for pulling that off.

I'll make sure to watch this soon (when it's not nearly midnight, lol), but it sure sounds like a nice find! been a while since we've had stuff relating to the film come out!
