I just had a few little theories/questions that I thought I would share and ask your opinion on.
1. Considering the fact that he used to be a toymaker, do you think he would have considered making the dolls different? I mean, out of a different material? Would rubber or plastic have been better? ... 'Kay, now that I think of it, rag-doll seems to be the best way to go... Easy to repair and extremely flexible.
2. 7's design seems rather feminine to me... do you think the Scientist KNEW his feminine side was going to her? Maybe he changes the alchemical symbols on the mask and that determines which piece of his soul is planted within a specific doll.... I have no idea...
On the alchemy note, how do you think he reacted when he created 1, and he was a success?
3. .... do you think he had a family before the war? He seems like the type that would have been a great guy to be related to... one of the world's best dads or something...
... I just have so many questions and things I want to find out and learn!
What are your theories? What do you know about him?

Can't really tell if he's considered making them different, but he shouldn't have As for 7, maybe he knew, that is a good thought! I kind of see him like a Willy Wonka sane guy. Meaning, he just seems a happy person when he does what he loves (toy making, I assume), and making children happy, so I think it is safe to say he had a family.

I think his reaction over 1 being a success would have been indescribable joy, because that's a huge deal to be able to create something that thinks like a person but is less likely to die as easily as a human being (they don't need to worry about food or water, after all) I don't know why, but I see the scientist as the type of person that would be great with his nieces or nephews, but not have any children of his own. Also, while the theory of the scientist changing the symbol to implant a different piece of his soul is interesting, I just can't bring myself to believe it. I haven't seen anything that says out and out that he split his soul nine times, and maybe that will become a fact and I'll be forced to change my opinion, but for now... Well, first of all, I get a headache thinking about how you could split your soul into pieces (unless the dolls are Horcruxes, but I doubt the scientist would want to go through that process ) And it seemed that after the second trailer came out, that was when everyone seemed to think that the split-soul theory was true because it said he gave his nine creations the spark of life and we see him transferring his soul into 9. But couldn't it just mean that he made all of them, and it's only his soul that is inside 9, and the others have different souls in them? Okay, rant done. Thanks for creating this topic, I'm amazed it took so long to be made.

Yeah, I always wondered if he knew 7 was going to be female too. She's too feminine looking for him to not know ahead of time when he was creating her. Oi, the more I think about this stuff, the more confusing it gets. That movie needs to come out already and explain this stuff to us all!

The idea of dolls as his horcruxes!
Still, there is a lot of mystery behind the scientist who, otherwise, is the most important character in the film. The 9experiment site put up a lot of information regarding the scientist's background

the only reason he wouldn't feel joy when he created 1, would be because he was creating a countermeasure to b.r.a.i.n...so he had to work fast...or maybe the dolls were him trying to hide the last human soul even after he passed away...maybe it became an irobot sort of thing...where he was trapped in his office by b.r.a.i.n and there he made the ragdolls...so many question and so few answers!

I'd like to think that there are 8 diffrent souls within 1-8 and Scientist's soul is in 9. Why would Thomas, Judy and Rebel be so important that they have their own twitter thing going?
I can see Rebel being 1 Judith being 7 and Thomas being 5

I wish I could think of something else to contribute to the topic, but it seems I'll have to retract my opinion of it being nine individual people, things seem to be pointing to the split-soul theory a lot these days.

Yes, the fact that Thomas has been using a pic for his avatar that we've only just uncovered recently is pretty much proof that they're legit.

I read up on Alan Oppenheimer (who plays the Scientist), he did the voice of Falkor in The Neverending Story, so my first thought was "thats cool". But, then I was tricken with terror cause he also did the voice of Gmork the scary, talking black wolf in the movie, my one and only fear D8. Kind of ironic, my one fear that I swore I would never watch anything associated with that evil voice, does the voice of the scientist in the one movie I've ever been super excited and dying to see *TWILIGHT ZONE MUSIC*
Side note: YAY!!! my 55th post
