Well, we see the twins holding the bulb... If the theory that they don't meet the twins until they go to the library holds any water, perhaps they took it out and used it to light the scrapbook.

((Live thread! I command you to live!))
After watching the Comic-Con preview/ Cat Beast clip, I find myself loving 9 like never before.
For awhile, I've been playing with the idea of, "What if all the things that were supposed to make 9 so great were actually his flaws?" And that seems to be how the movie is going. If 9 hadn't been so adamant on going to rescue 2 and then curious to see how the talisman fit into the slot in Doc Oc, then 2 wouldn't have died. Yeah, he would have died if they hadn't gone, because the cat beast was about to put the talisman in as well, but 9 just had to start wondering.

I'll admit, at first I was angry with 9 that he did that, but it IS his curiousity that drives the story, making it much more interesting.
THANK YOU MOKYN! You're right, it was 9's idea to rescue him, as well as his curiousity got the better of him and used the soul talisman. BUT if it weren't for 9, 2 would have died anyway at the clutches of CSM. The way 2 dies, he pushed 9 out of the way and saved his LIFE, so 2 has not died in vein, and we shouldn't be punishing 9 for his rash decisions (though I fully know well how 1 feels about the entire situation now, he's pissed off at 9 just like some of us fans on here, 1 sees it like 9 was at fault for killing his younger brother). 9 has his flaws, we just have to learn that in the end, he'll be the one to save them all. (I still have no clue how this movie will end, and I don't want to be spoiled or speculate about it until I actually see the movie.)

You know, it's funny... I always, ALWAYS thought 2's death was going to be a classic case of "curiosity killed the cat," the curiosity coming from, of course, poor little 9noob. I just saw 9 as the type who would unintentionally stir up trouble...
EDIT: I'm gonna start using the term 9noob from now on. XD

*tries to convert off-topic conversation to on-topic* Well, it just works... Unlike pedo9, 9noob actually has a basis to support it... 9's the new guy. He doesn't know there's anything to be afraid of, so he easily gives in to his naivety and may screw things up in the process.
That's why I love 9, for his innocence and imperfections.
And yes, this is a great forum... ^_^

I remember being taught in my Creative Writing class that the best fictional heroes suffer from one 'fatal flaw'. In some it is pride, in others, negligence, and in others, reluctance. 9's fatal flaw seems to be his inability to accept things as they are, accept that some answers aren't worth looking for.
Ultimately, however, 9's fatal flaw seems to be fatal for those around him rather than for himself. I wonder if all the dolls end up dying for 9, in one way or another... the group 'taking care' of their youngest member, even 'till death.

Well, the new QR clip does seem to show him as feeling VERY guilty for what he had done in awakening the Fabrication Machine... Which makes me wonder if, after 2's death, he's more cautious?
7: "We awakened something." 9: "NO! I awakened something... something terrible."

Mine started as a joke though, planning to tell an English teacher, "oh yeah, 9's curiosity could be his tragic flaw. Not to him, though. To everyone else around him." But then I realized the joke wasn't funny, because that's horrible! Now everything that happens, he'll be thinking, "this is all my fault. This is all my fault." I agree with calling him 9noob as a new nickname. Already I've likened him to that kid that sticks the tweezers in the light socket to see what happens ;D

Of course, all that guilt at having unintentionally killed his mentor-figure.
