I like 9, over all the other characters, he's just really appealing to me. He has an innocence that makes him a danger, but ideas that are unspeakable for the other ragdolls.
He's just so... I guess from what I've seen, he's a lot like me and that really makes me drawn to him.
9 has his faults that make him a likable hero, I like that.

^ I agree 100%; 9's just one of those characters for me. I like him ^_^
At first, I will attmit, I didn't find any real interest in him, probably because of the simplicity of his design compared to the other dolls, but the more I looked into his character, the more I grew to loving him. He's now one of my favorite characters (though, he's tied with 6 and 7, with 5 and the twins coming in with a very very very VERY close second.)

I love 9! I think he's so sweet! But we really can't say much about him because we already know about him. The other characters we have never seen before, so they have more curiosity centered around them.
The thing that I'm worried about is how 9 will have flaws. I found an interview of Shane Acker and he talked about how the short was called 9 because, on a scale of 1 to 10, 9 is the most perfect a human being could ever be. How can you have a character that is the closest to perfection you can get without being too perfect?

I know what you mean, I'm not normally drawn to main character, probably because I know too much about them. But then a cool little mysterious side character comes along and s/he's suddenly my favorite. 9's gotta be the first main character in a movie that's become my favorite in a long time (well, aside from Coraline and a few other choice films). Oh my GOSH he better not be perfect. I can't stand those perfect little characters- they get on my nerves. okies totally off topic question here but; Who do u think has the biggest cloth butt? 6 or 9? Lol. 9. XD

I think his simplicity is what draws me to him, he's just so easy to tell apart because of his simple design. It makes him seem less... adequate? I think this is a good set up to the role he will claim as leader.

9 seemed to be more mature in the short film than in the feature film. But then again, it is only a matter of opinion.
Huh, it seems that 9 is the least popular character in this community

How can you have a character that is the closest to perfection you can get without being too perfect? In the Wondercon interview, it was mentioned that the dolls make mistakes along the way of their journey, while 9 is with them - and also, the title of the film is centered around the fact that he's /not/ perfect, and that he does make mistakes. I guess someone could argue that it goes to either side - either hinting that "9" means he is too close to perfection, or simply that he can't be a perfect 10, because that's impossible, and he will encounter faults. I've never really thought that "9" meant that he would be the most perfect achievable, per se...just that he's the most fresh, the least exposed, the most open and inquisitive; therefore being /much/ more likely to find plenty more answers than all the others, because like a child, he has no past experiences to hold back his persistent imagination. Perfection? Nah, don't think so. I don't think that 9 will stay clear of his own mistakes, or at least that's what I'm hoping.

Shane Acker does make an important point regarding human nature. You see, the short film revolved around the themes of not only mind over strength but also an exploration of human nature. So in the feature film, 9,the youngest one, is supposed to be the one who is not burdened by the fears and limitations of the older 8. This reflects the idea that a child is supposed to be the one with the most potential. So, this means that he is the one who can learn the most at the same time is boudn to make mistakes. After all, 9 is the closest to perfection humans can ever achieve.

9 seemed to be more mature in the short film than in the feature film. I kinda noticed that too. I think that's because in the movie he's very new, still very innocent, very curious. In the short, all the other ragdolls save 5 and he had already died and, my guess, is that he became more mature with each of their deaths..... er, something like that.

Yep, Elijah Wood just loves playing little people. ;D
But in all seriousness, when I heard his conversation with 1 in the Winged Beast clip, I think I realized just how perfect Elijah Wood's voice is for 9.
