Elijah Wood really can do no wrong for me. I loved that piece of crap North, LOTR is god, and he was fantastic in Sin City and Everything is Illuminated. Even Happy Feet he was good in, and that movie annoyed the F*** outta me!
now as for his story, if this movie has a happy ending, I'm gonna punch a kitten. true story. I WANT it to end unhappily, or at the very least have the ending of the short. As sad and bittersweet as it was, I think the movie will be better for it. I mean let's face it, it's a TIM BURTON MOVIE. how often do those have straight-up happy endings? I can name two. Only two off the top of my head. And Shane made the short depressing as all hell, and he's heavily involved, so I don't think a "they all survive" ending is in our future folks. And I for one am glad of it.

If you punch a real kitten I'll punch you! *gives you a poster of a kitten*
Yeah I want it to leave you in your seat at the end, jaws agape and tears caked to your face!

I've always wanted to do this with every character so... I shall! *pulls out huge list of notes taken on every character... yes, I am obsessed*
I have so much to say about 9, but I'll try to cut to the chase as much as I can.
9 is the newborn. He came to life when all the humans, including his creator, died. He is the most curious and searching character... Being an individualistic, headstrong, leader-type character, I can picture him being a quick learner and somewhat rebellious.
Once he meets 1, he'll start questioning all the rag-dolls, asking them why they believe that living in hiding is better than fighting for what's right. Eventually, he wins the support of the others, one-by-one, as they realize it's better to die for each other than to pointlessly live for themselves.
1 is the last one to accept him (I'm betting 2's the first one, because of his open-mindedness). I'm thinking that 1 would finally accept him after 9 saves his life once or twice. After doubting in his leadership, he denounces, and 9 is given control.
Immediately after, they're attacked more than ever, and they start dying out. 9 beats himself up over his mistakes, but they all realize that 9 saved them from dying alone. They will all die for each other, and they all know that life would be worth it if they could do that. 9 gives them hope, fights against wrong, and sees the good in every person.
He would speak to each individually, question their innermost thoughts, and bring out sides to them that nobody else ever knew. He would point out that they all have similarities, but the fact that each of them are different is why life is worth living. The unique qualities found in everyone causes 9 to discover that every one of them are good, though extremely flawed. Their mistakes and flaws make him love them even more. Kind of like... The reason why some people love villains more than heroes: the villains share the audience's flaws, so they symphatize, and love them more than the "perfect" image the heroes put up.
... Those are my theories about 9. Hahahahahaha... *hides* I know I'm not 100% right. Those are my guesses. (Most of it are summarizations I've already made in Soul Seekers, which I'm updating existing chapters before moving on...)

I have no real mental image of 9 in my head, how sad... Although I can picture everyone being fascinated with his zipper, having never seen one before.
... See, this is why you shouldn't post at 10:00 at night.

I' m very curious how they'll develop 9's personality. I'll be very dissapointed if he'll end up being completely positive hero. Making the character sincere and adding some bad traits'd be perfect.

I think 9's flaws will be that he's too confident. He always thinks his strategies will work, so there's no room for failure, but somebody (sometimes himself) messes up, and everything changes. So others get hurt/get killed, and 9's biggest flaw is believing there's no failure. He'll probably get blamed for all these mistakes, and abandoned a few times, but eventually they come back and follow him.
Remember that 9 isn't 10. He has flaws. His character traits are going to be awesome when the movie comes out!

Well, they COULD still have 9 do that expression, i mean 9 could be SPEECHLESS from the excitement when 5 shows him. My heart just melted from the thought. That would be so cute! I want 9 to make his little CSM trap again. Not in the same context, of course, but that contraption is what made me really start to like him, because it was incredibly smart and yet so simple.

I'd like it if other ragdolls were there too and that they all started celebrating when it worked. So cute . . .

Even Happy Feet he was good in, and that movie annoyed the F*** outta me! Nothing can be worse than Spyro: Legend of a New Beginning, or whatever it was called. It was not fun at all, and the characters were so flat they could have been a line to me, but Elijah Wood was the only thing I liked in it. If he could make that game somewhat enjoyable, then he can be good as 9.

Poor 9 I think 9 isn't talked about so much because he's really the one we know the most about. Other characters have mysteries that we want to figure out.

thats true odd, but to me 9 looks the most "normal, oridinary" comnpared to the rest of the charatcers, i mean if it wasn't for 5's eye patch then i'd say the same thing about 5.
i mean what does 9 have that the other's don't? A big zipper! that's a bout it....but i know we will be most likely sharing out insight and emotion with 9 since hes the newest and you can understand 9 more than the rest of them because we learn about 9 right away. we learn about the others later as the story goes on.
