I have a few.
I like it when the CM falls, and out of nowhere the piece of wood just comes down on him and stabs him. It just... gave me chills...
And then I like it when 9 presses the sequence and it shakes so violently he falls back. He's like "wtf?!" I like that... yes...

I agree. The little trap that 9 builds for the Cat Beast is brilliant, and it feels like a crowning moment of awesome when it works.

I think my favorite part of the short film is when 9 takes the Taislman and clamps it together with the other half.... dont know what that is... and it shakes and falls to the ground, releasing all the sould that had been taken. I''m not wure if this is true, but while i was watching, i saw that 3,4, and 7 are the only ones aside from 9 that don't have their souls walk out... Hmm.. do you think that influnced the movie? ^^

I do not know what I like short more than others. I love the dark atmosphere, the details of the characters, sounds, and their express so much without speaking. I love this short.
Choosing rather the flashback with 5. 5 seems an old mentor ... and 9 the young student, who gets excited with new discoveries. It 'fun scene where 5 to 9 orders to stop the lamp to remove the bulb and then fall back badly. I loved the espressone of 9 while 5 gives him the light.
I imagine a dialogue like this: 5-"For you, 9" 9-"For me?" I don't" 5-"C'mon. It's a present "

Hm...favorite part of the short...it'd probably have to be when 5 shoves the lightbulb and everything into 9's hands and tries to push him away. It's like he's trying to say "Ya I know there's something dangerous out there and I'm telling you to take this stuff and save your ass. Now get out of here!" Lol, I just really liked that little part between them. ^^

I mostly loved the interaction between 9 and 5 and I loved the whole trap that 9 set up for the Catbeast.

The end of the short was kind of sad. 9 walks off over the horizon alone with no life in the world left to be with him. Loneliness! It's such a morbid thing and to be alone for eternity, how is 9 to adapt? With his mentor 5 gone to the next world, he has no one. It's sad to see 9 set off to parts unknown and to see the talisman buried in the dirt. It's like 9 is willing to forget 5...FORGET LIFE perhaps...to forget the past and look to the the future. Then again, I suppose, that's what the short and the movie are both kind of about at both endings.

I really liked the part when 9 sees the chasm beneath him, and starts to turn back. He let his fear take over and was about to run away, but by that time the CSM was blocking his exit and he had no choice but to finish what he had started. It was very realistic, something they don't usually portray with the "heroes" of the film.

After returning from a year-and-a-half-long mission, I got to re-watch the short film on the big screen with a fresh perspective. Oh, I loved it.
The ingenuity of the short is astounding. Shane Acker crafted this gothic, beautiful, unique world that is so different from everything that's ever come before it! There's this atmosphere and feel and weight to this post-apocalyptic world that sparks my fascination every time.
The creatures and mythology of the short are striking and fresh. It's just... you look at the shortfilm, and you think "I've never seen a story told like this before! Woah!". It's just.... I love everything about it, and I can't say it enough.
When I watched the short again, I really liked the CSM's animations. The way it prowls toward the tar-doll in the shadows-- one sneaking step, close to the ground, then another-- was so much better than its animation in the movie! In the shortfilm, the CSM's behavior is much smoother. Somehow, the gorilla-style animation in the film felt more generic.
I love the pounce. =B
