My younger brother plays with Thomas the Tank Engine trains...I LOVED 9 and I wanna meet Shane so badly...and he, the director of a more darker, more intense animated film is directing a CHILDREN'S film...
...If anything, and I mean ANYTHING has Shane Acker directing it, I'll be the first to order the tickets up at the ticket booth.

It seems like he wanted to try and work on a movie for a younger audience, from what he said in the article, so more power to him. I'm sure I'll try and take my nephew to see it, since he loves anything with cars and trains. XD

My only question is does this mean Acker is back in Holywood? Last time I checked anywhere it seemed that he was in london...

My brother and I absolutely LOVED Thomas the Tank Engine while we were growing up. We used to cover the entire living room floor with a huge wooden track and we'd be playing with those trains for hours. XD
I find it cool how Shane is wanting to stretch his target audience, and after directing a film such as 9, it's cool to see him take on a project such as Thomas. I think it'll be worth the viewing if only for the fact that Shane will be directing it and for the nostalgia. <3 [/center]

This is pretty interesting. My little brothers have Thomas the Train Engine play sets, and they have lots of fun with them. I'm not sure whether I'll be seeing this film, even if Shane is directing it--I wasn't interested in Thomas toys when I was younger XD;; But I'll inform my mom and stepdad about it--maybe they can take the little ones to see it, seeing as my stepdad enjoyed 9 very much. :3

Man, Shane is now even more admirable to me, and he was already my idol. I can't wait to see how this turns out. But boy, are the comments in this article already getting idiotic! It's another one of those moments I wish I could slap someone through my monitor.

Well, the premise about the son and father relationship seems interesting, but I don't have ANY sort of nostalgia for Thomas the Tank Engine. I didn't watch it as a kid, so yeah. I guess it can't be THAT horr--
Now I have little to no hope for this film.

Plus, did we mention SHANE ACKER, the genious behind 9?

At first I was a little skeptical, but after reading the article, I have a feeling Shane knows what he's doing. He obviously has no intention of doing the same old thing that we all know Thomas the Tank Engine to be. Stretching to a wider age group is a pretty smart move and an admirable one, but who knows how the public is going to take it.
Personally, for me, I will never see Shane Acker as anything less than the genius he is. His decision to direct this movie holds no bearing over my opinion of him as a brilliant storyteller, and he's still my idol. XD I just worry, as I said, about how others are going to take this, because, judging from the comments in that article... I can already tell that some of his fans are NOT going to take this well. Still, haters gonna hate. I still love Shane Acker and I think this film deserves a chance. :3

*shrug* I, personally, am completely indifferent. XD I liked the show as a kid and I LOVE Acker, but maybe not enough to really want to see this.
BUT I admit that with him going at it, it will at the very least be the most... INTERESTING reboot ever! I actually may rethink going to see this just for the Ackerness.
I think most people don't look past the fact it's THOMAS. Not Shane, but another old children's show getting a reboot. AGAIN. So they automatically assume it will suck. Hmn... didn't they say that Lauren Faust My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic before they found out it was awesome? XD Maybe it'll be the same thing here!

I notice a few people, namely some from deviantart, are freaking out over this.
Did it ever occur to you that this is a children's movie? Gosh, why freak out? So what if he's making a children's movie, and just because it happens to be that certain genre doesn't make it utter crap.
Geez, he's entitled to do what he wishes with his career.

imam definitely intrigued about the project and happy that Shane is getting work and i fell he will do an amazing job with the directing the movie as the fantastic genius that he is and i will wait to here more i o watched the series when i was younger.
but i would like to point out one possible flaw.
the screen writers might not be the best for the project again time will tell but looking at there history it could be a problem.
Still stoked that Shane will be able to hopefully expand his audience.
