Ahem! If that's the case, I just hope the writers don't try to go for the "marital problems" subplot that SO many sequels have. I'm a little sick of it by now. "Yeah, 7, despite the fact that we have pretty good chemistry and get along very well, I've decided that I like this random stitchpunk chick all of a sudden, thus prompting you to get jealous and go off on your own for a bit! You might even get captured and I'll have to come rescue you again! Doesn't that sound like fun?" It could work in context, but...I don't know. If that DOES end up happening, then I'd just want it to be well told. Love triangles seem to be one of those things that are hard to pull off properly. And the fact that I just don't like them might factor in there too XD I don't think you need to worry about that. I would be extremely surprised if anything coming close to a love triangle or 'marital problems' showed up in a sequel. It just doesn't fit. But yes, I think Shane has a pretty good handle on the characters in his head. After all, we we DID get of their development I loved. So I trust him to do well with them in a sequel, and provide more of what we want to see. Mhm. For the most part, they were all very concrete about what their personalities were...which is why I can't really see 9 and 7 arguing or having problems like that. Even if they were just friends, I don't think he'd all of a sudden start ignoring her for, well, anyone. I don't know, it made sense when I was thinking about all this a couple nights ago XD I'm really intrigued by any mentions of a sequel, though. Anyone got any ideas about what the plot of such a thing might be?

It could be like CJ101's story "A Chance to Say Good-Bye". it's in the Fan Writings section if you're interested.

Because he keeps mentioning it, I can't help but get the feeling that Shane has a particular idea up his sleeve. I try to think of possibilities, but I think it's likely that whatever Shane's idea is, it's probably nothing close to what we might expect. I agree there has to be a new conflict to draw people in. After all, with all the money that it costs to make films like this, they have to try and reach as many people as they can. While big 9 fans like us would be happy to pay to see a movie that just elaborates on the characters we already know, or perhaps their pasts, most other people wouldn't. He needs a new hook, to bring people back.

Sayamoonshadow: You know, ever since Shane kept talking about a sequel, I been getting ideas, theories and possibles of what may happen if theres a sequel coming up. But Idk, maybe I should put it up in a fanfic to get it organized.

I just feel like a prequel would write Shane Acker into a wall, creativity wise. With a sequel, it doesn't have to feel like a sequel- it can feel like a whole nother movie, while tying into the first. Besides, couldn't a sequel provide some depth into the past as well? I agree quite wholeheartedly with you there, YAY. With the 'different movie tied into the first' bit. Probably because it's been done- Erich Maria Remarque wrote a sequel to All Quiet On The Western Front, (spoiler!) even though the main character dies at the end. It was called The Road Back, I think. I liked the suggestion of Super Fun Happy Tiems with Uncle 5- you have a way with comic relief, YAY. I would totally buy that. Hmmmm... well, they could always go with humaised plotlines- I've now seen 2 of these: The Reborn (by Ditto), and this other one on fanfiction.net. Personally The Reborn sounds better... but I'm talking about 9 movie sequels, not fanfiction! I think it would be awesome if they brought characters back. Again, referencing to fanfiction, using ideas like CJ's 'The Talisman was for restoring our souls, not releasing them' is original and probable. Or using other methods- like 'Water', a fic on fanfiction.net. What the author did in their story was bring them back through the rain- the pieces of soul are gathered in larger bodies of water and reabsorbed. Again, original and probable- I had thought of it myself, but I don't want to fic it, now that it's been done. Ok... maybe I should just come up with a lame title to get back on topic. Erm... 9, where's my Talisman? The Talisman Reloaded? 9 AND THE HALF BLOOD STITCHPUNK! *dives behind couch*

I actually think Shane could combine a sequel with a prequel... Like, the movie would have 9, 7, and the twins going on with their lives after the events of the first movie, but 7 and the twins explain/show footage of past events to 9, and you get to know more about the other characters before 9 came along. Perhaps answer questions like "why does 7 have a patch on her back", and junk like that.
My friend also suggested that it would be easy to make it into a TV show... XD Every episode is of the 4 survivors trying to fight off the fab's "leftover" creatures that still roam the planet, and such.

Holy crap guys I have like one big idea of how the sequel could totally go but I can't tell you because I'm trying to write the script so I can make a huge comic project out of it and it's killing me because I want your praise about how glorious I am.
But I will instead bring up something new: all the humans aren't dead. There's not a freaking way we're all dead- none. At least a few hundred of us survived, made a bunker underground, and are waiting out the worst of it so that we can come back later all the while starting an underground civilization. Kind of like Wall-E. Except the robots want to eat everyone, M-O, Auto, Go-4(s) and all of Wall-Es other friends die, there are barely any humans left, and this time the president is actually animated and isn't live action and is more of a dick.
But seriously, we're still alive. We, as humans, have survived things much worse then this- so I think it'd be neat to see a sequel introducing 9 to some humans and kids. (CAN YOU SAY "ENSUING ANTICS" HMMM?)
Well... I think it'd be interesting for a sequel. It also opens the possibility of bringing some of our beloved stitchs back, or bringing in new ones. "9 and His Human Buddies! Except they're all pretty much dead and the earth is dying and there are hell-beasts wandering around and you'll never fall asleep again because this is your future and you gotta be prepared DARNIT. ... BRING ALL YOUR KIDS!"

I dunno... If there were any humans left over, it might injure the gravity of the story. I mean, if the humans could make a comeback on a sterilized Earth, the stitchpunks' mission would have been futile. People would take a look at the little blighters (if they even noticed them) and say "OH SHIZ MOAR MACHINES!!!" and stomp on them. >< Not exactly the fate that the Scientist had hoped for.

In the trailors, it says "When humanity ended, their mission began". So that would be pretty stupid to suddenly be like "Whoops, look! Survivors!" The stitchpunks ARE what's left of humanity. That's kind of the point... They are what's left of us, as depressing as that may seem. ^^;

Meh, I guess, but it's still not very realistic (Oh, look at me- bringing realisim into the film that has walking, talking, Ragedy Ann dolls). Although that "WHOOPS SURVIVERS" could be kind of funny for a trailer.
"Uh, hey there- yeah, you right there- you might want to take a seat for this, 'cause it's a doozy... remember the last 9 movie? Yeah, well, there's gonna be this sequel, and well... you remember the trailers? How it said all the humans were dead? Well... that wasn't exactly 'true'. Turns out, humanity is still around and kicking, and now the only surviving stitchpunks will have to work together to show the survivors how to live in such a inhospitable planet, as they have the most experince in death, doom, and destruction, as well as overwhemling and crushing depression.
So, in a way... life is still going on. Kind of. Just... with humans. Not ragdolls so much. Is that... are you okay with that? I mean, I know that's kind of a big marketing mistake we made, but at the time it sounded so cool and dramatic to say we were all dead, we just couldn't resist, y'know? I-I know, I know... you have every right to be upset- that's alright, let all your anger out, it's okay. We just wanted to let you know we're very, very sorry- and hey, at least this movie will have lotsa your favorite ship, 7/9! ...Huh? What was that? ... Wait- Your favorite pair is what? Oh... oh my. SHAAAANE! WE HAVE A PROBLEM!
9 SQUARED! Coming out sometime when we feel like it."
Ah that would be fun. But that won't happen. Spewing ideas out there is fun nonetheless, but I guess a survival story of humans wouldn't fit well into a survival story of dolls that can barely keep from killing everyone they know and love. Maybe the sequel could adress the fact that the stitches were supposed to become part of the Fabricator, so that it could, like, repopulate the world with science and stuff? Maybe that's what the gas was? A way to petrify human DNA to rebirth it, so that way earth has a second chance at life? You know, maybe it needed some sort of soul to be able to use black magic or something, and the scientist just made the stitchpunks as a vessel for his soul to be given back to Mr. Fab later, after everything was wiped out. Maybe the Chanceller just got duped by the scientist or something, and maybe then, after the humans were all made back to normal, our favorite stitchs could all come back.
I mean, I would kind of hate that, because it would just make 9 seem like even more of a fool.

A sequel would be very hard to make. I'd love one, but other than things that peek into the past and what happened it's pretty hard to continue the story.
One thing I'm tossing around is the possibility that the Scientist had students.. but if Shane can figure out something to continue the story then some kudos to him.

May be the story will be like this IF we had a sequel.
The BRAIN is dead, and the 4 stitchpunks are having a lifetime. All the sudden, a new monster comes, which was one of the monsters the BRAIN made that survived the explosion of the factory. The monster is almost as smart as the BRAIN and makes more monsters before. New characters come too...
Whadda you think?

Meh, I don't think so- that would seem a bit... redundant, don't you think? Perhaps some sort of new threat should be posed- such as the THREAT TO RAMANCE DRAMA -DUN DUN DUUUUN- One thing I'm tossing around is the possibility that the Scientist had students.. Well... he had rebels, who followed under his lead and stuff. Would that count?

I have this theory and a story in my head of what may happen in a sequel, but now the more I think about it, the more it started to sound really stupid. But I want to share with you guys anyway... I was thinking what if there were other ragdolls that were cratered by an enemy of the Scientist and they live before the stitchpunks were ever cratered or they awoke after the film ended. Instead of them having numbers as names I thought it would be cool if they had alchemy symbols for names like the symbols on the talisman. The symbols represent their talents and their personalty's. I wanted their names to be like water, fire, earth and air but after looking at the symbols on this web, I kinda felt disappointed. www.purplehell.com/riddletools/alchemy.htm I also thought it would be cool if there was a ragdoll vs ragdoll war that the alchemy dolls are angry at the number dolls for killing their machine friends, I know it sounds really stupid, but hey I tried. =/

The symbols for the seasons look kind of cool. And it's an interesting idea, but maybe it shouldn't be an enemy of the scientist? Because in a time of war, grudges hardly seem like something someone would dwell over- maybe it could just be someone who desperatly wanted to live on in some way shape or form, and discovered how to make stitchpunks, and with his POWERS COMBINED he did it.
And back to the symbol idea, I still think if there were punks that had the power to control the weather that'd be uber cool- like... the Seasonpunks! Bringing spring, summer, fall and winter to everyone! They'd be like gods. Just gods of weather.
