Oh ho ho, please oh please do not tie me into that group of people who dislike something because it's popular- I actually support things becoming famous, because it means the creator is doing well (And good for them, I might add). I personally hated the Titanic and would rather eat nails then watch it again- but that's just my opinion. I haven't seen it in a while so my opinion could change, but for the moment, I remember when I saw it in theaters, I just was like, "That was stupid. That was boring. I payed money for this?"
I, of course, have opinions that are not widely shared by the public. But, of course, this is not about the Titanic and whether it was or was not good, but about 9, and the possibility of a sequel. And I think that there's a fairly good chance, as, from what I can tell, Shane Acker is the type if given the chance would jump on the chance of a second film. Not only could it open more doors, but it could also redeem the first film as to where it fell flat.
Then again, I'm also that one person who believes 9 didn't fall flat anywhere. And that's not because I'm a desperate fangirl. But... still. Second film? It could probably be a god-sent movie that would revolutionize the industry, as Shane would probably have more experince, and more room to work with then (Case in point, longer film time, and higher budget).
And... now I'm curious- what would a 9 sequel be titled? 9, PT 2; Secrets Of The Rebels? 10? Happy Fun Tiem Adventures With Uncle 5 and Friends? I think that would be a good sequel. "COME ON GUYS WE GOTTA DEFEAT THE MONSTER- WITH FRIENDSHIP."

"9-2: Now with even MORE numbers! No, we are not going to introduce them all in the commercial like last movie. NO, WE'RE NOT GOING TO HAVE 7 MAKE OUT WITH 9 AND STOP ASKING. GAH STOP IT. WE'RE NOT DOING THAT- I... I CAN'T EVEN REPEAT THAT. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU FANS?" - Shane Acker
And I think that I'd like the sequel to have new stichpunks, rather then bringing back the others, or just being just the gan being bored, drawing things in the ground, and sighing, because they're just so gosh dern bored. I mean, it could be done- it's not as if the Scientist was the only one who had access to blackmagic, and I'm sure a few rebels would be all like, "Oh hay, that's a good idea- since we're all going to die anyways, LET'S DO THAT."
Or something. 5'll probably just come back to life and save the day, though, so I guess it'd be pointless.

I can't think of a serious title without laughing at the corny ideas floating around in my head.

See, now I'm thinking 9-2 should have a corney title, because it would be amazing.
"9: Makin' Black Magic!"

It's beautifully shot, well acted and has a great soundtrack. That's what makes a good film to me! Of course the kind of story it has isn't one of my favorites and I can definitely see how people who have little patience for that sort of thing wouldn't enjoy it. Anyway, moving on. I'm excited to see what Shane might do what a sequel. I'm sure with the feedback from this first film -- especially the "needs more character development" -- more thought will be put into that portion of any following film. And we know visually he's got it down. I rewatched 9 last night and was still so impressed by the animation, particularly the Machine's scenes. I personally like Tim Burton's suggestion for a sequel title -- "9 squared." Haha!

I personally like Tim Burton's suggestion for a sequel title -- "9 squared." Haha! I was watching this video interview with Shane on Screencrave, and I was very happy when he mentioned how he wished the movie could have been a bit longer with more character-centric scenes. I was happy because he nailed it right on the head! He's totally aware of what was, in my opinion, lacking in the film. I think he said they ran out of time and had to constantly alter scenes in order to fit a 72 minute running time. But just the fact that he feels the same way makes me much more confident in the prospect of a sequel/prequel. And that comment by Tim made me laugh out loud. 9 Squared indeed. Ah, now I have to watch the interview. I am glad Shane acknowlegded a flaw. Excuse me for sounding dumb, but does there really have to be a time limit? Why could he not extend it. And 9 Squared... 81, the sequel. (Sorry, lame humor)

Meh, a lot of people will say something is bad just because it's popular - just as a lot of people will say something must be good just because it's popular. I don't intend to try to watch Titanic again because I'm sure I'll just fall asleep again. The only part I caught after the first five minutes was when the girl blew the whistle. And even then, only because the sound of the whistle woke me up, haha.
9 Squared...that would be an AWESOME name. Hm...now I'm wondering what the PLOT of a sequel might be. I was looking through the winners of the Beasts of 9 contest on dA, and I remember Acker said that he could see one of them being tamed by 7 in a sequel...maybe the plot would be that 9, 7, 3, and 4 are looking for a new place to live, and find other stitchpunks that are being plagued by more machines, thus prompting them to help?
*chants to self* Must not make that into a fanfic, must not make that into a fanfic, must not make that into a fanfic...
Ahem! If that's the case, I just hope the writers don't try to go for the "marital problems" subplot that SO many sequels have. I'm a little sick of it by now. "Yeah, 7, despite the fact that we have pretty good chemistry and get along very well, I've decided that I like this random stitchpunk chick all of a sudden, thus prompting you to get jealous and go off on your own for a bit! You might even get captured and I'll have to come rescue you again! Doesn't that sound like fun?"
It could work in context, but...I don't know. If that DOES end up happening, then I'd just want it to be well told. Love triangles seem to be one of those things that are hard to pull off properly. And the fact that I just don't like them might factor in there too XD

How's this for a serious title: 9: Life Returns
Or: 9: Life Must Go On

9 II
I don't know. I think I could see it with the roman numerals. ^^;
@sayamoonshadow
I actually would find it interesting. *shot* 'Cause I'm one of those people that enjoys clitche-plotlines. Gosh I'm bland. XD

I would be extremely surprised if anything coming close to a love triangle or 'marital problems' showed up in a sequel. It just doesn't fit. But yes, I think Shane has a pretty good handle on the characters in his head. After all, we we DID get of their development I loved. So I trust him to do well with them in a sequel, and provide more of what we want to see.

Something tells me, there won't be NEW characters... Shane was pretty blunt with his choice to make 9 of them. 9 is suppose to be the highest number in the "evolution". Bringing some characters BACK might happen, but personally I don't see him doing that.

9: The Sequel?
Stupid title, I know but I think it sounds a little better than 9 2, lol.

Oh yeah, I saw that comment of the winners in the contest. I was like 'Gee, he really wants to make a sequel.'
I think Shane should go for it as long as it goes okay, I guess.
