Do you think that the characters sleep every night, the way humans do?
If so, would they do it because they need to, or because they want to? If not, how often would they sleep, if at all?
The way I see it, the movie doesn't give hard evidence one way or the other. We know that they can sleep, or at least pass out, but it wasn't clear (to me) if it was from actual exhaustion or just trauma. The action of the movie continues across several days and nights with no mention of sleep being made, but that doesn't really prove anything either.
I'm really of two minds on this one, and I'm curious to see what people think.

I dunno...it seems like it would be one of their only ways to "recharge", since they can't eat, and when 2 was in that cage, he sort of seemed to be waking up, like he was smacking his lips and whatnot, but...I'm kind of on the fence with that one.

Well...I think they sleep. A lot of non-humans sleep.
And since these guys have human souls, I guess they can sleep. Plus--how can one live without sleep?
For two of my characters, sleeping is a bit of a problem.

I think they sleep. 83 In one of the deleted scenes, 8 and 6 are hauling a book on screen to (presumptuously) use as a bed, while 1 climbs up onto a stoplight and gets cozy. He even yawns while he's talking.
I just think that it isn't as necessary for them - ie, they can go for longer periods of time without sleep. And besides, if they are machines/have mechanical bodies, nonstop running and moving about would eventually cause them to overheat, would it not? I'd think they'd have to sleep to cool down, at the very least.

I was going to mention that deleted scene, but Shadow got there first... I think they do need to sleep as part of a sort of recharge cycle, but that they can go for longer without it.

^ Holy mother of -- I forgot about that deleted scene! XDDD I don't really consider deleted scenes canon - some of them outright contradict the movie - but in this case I think it still says something about how the creators think of the characters. Ha! I love it! when 2 was in that cage, he sort of seemed to be waking up, like he was smacking his lips and whatnot This is very true, now that you mention it... it does sort of imply that he fell asleep in the cage, instead of passing out. Plus--how can one live without sleep? Yeah, see, that's what I think, too, but I wonder if it's supposed be like something they need physically, or something that's more mental or soul-related. Before I came around here, I was under the impression that they only slept once in a great while, and I had a theory that the characters with the most stamina (7 and 8) would need the least sleep, and the weaker characters (1 and 2) would need more. But now I'm rethinking the whole thing, and I still can't make up my mind! XD

Personally, I think if they conserve their energy, they don't NEED to sleep for long periods of time, but the more energy they use the "less power" their processors are able to create, and they start to feel tired.
Or something to that effect.

I believe that they sleep. They would need to get rest somehow, and sleep is how they would do so. They can't just keep going and going nonstop.
Plus, how else would little Stitchpups be made if they didn't sleep together? XD *shot*

Or something to that effect. I think this is pretty much where I'm at right now, that it would vary according to what they did. I used to think they could go months, or maybe years, without sleeping, but now I think it would be more often than that. Though still not every night. Hmmm... maybe I should change the title of this thread to " How often do they sleep?" XD Plus, how else would little Stitchpups be made if they didn't sleep together? XD *shot* AN EXCELLENT POINT XD

I think it depends with how much stamina specific stitchpunks have. Like you said, Red, the ones that are the strongest of the group sleep less, and the ones that are weaker have to sleep more. My stitchie 725 has to sleep a lot, not just because it helps him calm down after a breakdown or something, but he also has pretty weak stamina... XD;; Plus, how else would little Stitchpups be made if they didn't sleep together? XD *shot* I conquer, Prophet. HOW WOULD LITTLE STITCHPUPS BE MADE, HOHO! *shot*

I think that they sleep - 5 did seem to have that roller skate used as a bed that he put 9 on to fix him.
*agrees with Prophet, redwhistle, and Death Sock and is promptly shot*

I think that they physically don't get tired, but their souls do, being human and whatnot. Thus, they show the mannerisms of tiredness. The soul can just use that time that they "shut down" as a recharge.
I think the soul controls a lot of what they do, even though they physically can't/don't need to. Like crying or panting or wiping the spit off your mouth after a run. It's just what their souls are familiar with.

IMO they do sleep; Just not every night. I think they need it fairly regularly though, like every two or three nights.
-agrees with Prophet and her posse and is gunned down with them-

AGREEING WITH PROPHET GETS YOU SHOT....UNLESS YOU ARE A PANDA XDDD
I noticed they had a lot of human mannerisms that they didn't seem to need. IE. when 5 was running after the record, he was in fact wiping off his mouth, but they don't salivate. when 2 died 5 sobbed, but no tears.
SO AT THE VERY LEAST they do get tired, and their souls read it as sleep. and honestly, i think they do sleep every night...just only for a few hours XD. they're smaller, so they don't need as much sleep.

Well I think they do need to sleep. Like how you get tired after you run around somewhere and need to sit down and rest or just get sleepy from too much activeness. They probably sleep to rest their gears or something. Or sleeping may just be a habit. (and I have to relate this to Edward breathing being a habit) and they just do it becuase they are made from human souls.
