There's a certain quote I hear a lot about 7 from the scientist that sort of confuses me....
"7 will whip them all into shape"
What exactly does that mean? Teach them all how to fight? Get them organized for survival? Because From what I gather from the movie, she helped lead everyone to the cathedral, had some heated debates with 1 before ditching everyone along with 3 and 4 and letting everyone think they were dead and leaving their defense from the BEAST that 1 made a big deal about in the hands of 8. Now, nothing against 8, but the guy who is the first and only line of defense for so long also uses hallucinogenic drugs and goes off to investigate spooky noises by himself. Not exactly what I would call leaving 5, 6 and 2 in good hands.
I imagine that the whipping into shape thing (as in training) might've happened had 1 not been so resistant, but I can't see any reason why he would be against teaching everyone how to fight, unless he figured she'd try to stage a coup against him or something....I'm probably rambling, sorry. XP anybody else have any thoughts on this?

"whip them in to shape" could also just mean keeping them alert, and on their toes. Keeping them in line incase there's danger, so to speak.
Either way, as you said, it was probably 1 keeping her from doing anything of the sort. So she said "screw it" and went to watch the monsters, herself.

Check it out... 7 is left-handed! :D Or mostly, anyway. XD This is only something I noticed recently, and I think it's awesome because I am also left-handed because you almost never see animated characters who are lefties. Since the other characters are all right-handed as far as I can tell, maybe it's supposed to be part of that "balance existing in nature" thing. :D What's that? You want some screenshots? Well, you're in luck! Now, here's where it gets tricky. Charging the winged beast, she's using her right hand... But a second later, the weapon is in her left. She didn't have time to switch hands, so it's a continuity error. ANIMATORS, WHY MUST YOU TORMENT ME?And here, she cuts 2's body free with her right... But charges the Seamstress holding it in her left. So, whether those last two are errors or not, she still uses her left most of the time. She also seems to hold/carry her weapon in her left hand for the majority of the time she isn't using it. ... What? THIS THREAD NEEDED MORE LOVE, OKAY? XD

Hmn... perhaps after leaving in the Emptiness and the library, or even before leaving, she trained herself to be ambidextrous, but she was dominantly left handed from creation?
I think being ambidextrous would be a lot handier being a fighter, if she was left handed fully and he left arm was injured, there would be no way for her to wield her shield or weapon.

Oh sure, I think it's very possible she could have trained herself to fight with either hand! She just seems to favor her left. There's also the fact that shields are usually held with the non-dominant hand, and she wears hers on her right arm. But then again, 5 wears his quiver over his left shoulder, despite the fact that he shoots right-handed. So yeah. ^^;

1's left handed too, I think . . . but animator error or not, it's in the movie so it's been established. XD I've always thought that she was left-handed, but now that I see that she uses her right hand too . . . wow. Ambidextrious is neat, but your idea about her being left-handed but teaching herself to use both makes absolute sense. It's a neat little interpretation to make. 83
Yay for reviving this thread. XD

^ Get outta here, 1's left-handed, too? :DDD Must... resist... spamming his thread ....
But really, it's hard to tell sometimes what they did on purpose, and what's a mistake. So I think the idea Bane had is a good way to reconcile it! XD
AND I HAD NEVER POSTED IN THIS THREAD, SHADOW. NEVER. THAT COULD NOT GO ON. I know you of all people understand. XD

Oh, you. XD I know, it was an unworthy length of time before I finally posted here too. But here we are!
But yes, from what I've seen, both her and 1 are left-handed: everyone else are righties.
Did anyone else note that in her early concept art and even in the deleted scenes, her belt is crazy long? It loops numerous times and hangs loosely around her hips? Where that's changed, the deleted scene, "Throw Me the End of Your Rope" is no longer possible in the movie. I've always wondered if that simple design change kicked that scene's plausibility, the storyboarders couldn't think of any other solution, and just opted to fade it out. XD
Cuz . . . it's really hard to figure out how they got back up there and all . . . what with 7's shorter belt.

I think the removal of that scene probably was for the change in her design. It would be INCREDIBLY difficult to pull that off in her final design with the much shorter rope, so I think you hit it on the nail there.

I never saw that early concept art, but I just went and looked at the deleted scenes again, and yeah! I bet they did change it for that reason! XD I approve of this. Fashion is way more important than silly things like escaping from impossible situations. Besides, as useful as rope is, who would want coils and coils of it hanging off them? It would probably just get caught on stuff. :P

Hey, I bet that original long rope has both pros and cons. It's good for rescuing your friends from a ninety degree plane wing, but if you're stalking a beast, having that thing hook into something and knock it down would be insta-death.
And really, I think it looks a little better than that small rope tied around her waist, not draping from her hips. XD Yes Red, I'm bringing this up again, because it's too damn funny.

AHAHAHA you do have a point. XDDD Those ropes would probably be way more flattering. Wait a minute... I see it all now... that was her original design, but it was probably too much of a pain to animate. So then they changed it to the one Miss High-Waisted is sporting now, AND they deleted an entire scene that they could no longer use.
Hmmm.... I wonder what other rope-related scenes might have been deleted... *shot a million times*

7 had long ropes, 6 had 100 keys on him... All in all, I think the rope and keys turned into a design aspect, instead of a plot point, because it was just more simple to animate them that way. Having to animate a large length of rope, swinging around and hitting her hip, in every single scene she's in... Yeah, I can understand why they removed that. Especially since 6 already had the key, 1 already had the cape, etc. I was going to say she was ambidextrous, too. Although, it is interesting to know she's mostly left handed. Maybe all female stitchpunks are lefties *shot*
